A Rebel Life: Murder by the Rich
Publisher: All and None Press (January 2, 2007)
60,000 words
Description:
At times philosophical, at times polemic, A Rebel Life tells, in visceral detail, the story of Peter Kalafatis. His passage from angry child into a youth of mindless rebellion, to that of a mature, responsible, adult who can clearly see and elucidate the elementary injustices in our society. A Rebel Life is an interesting exploration of socioeconomics and urban conflict in the home, family, and community. It combines the readability of a novel with the educational content of a political tract and discusses many important issues. This book is an important contribution to understanding the causes and consequences of youth rebellion and violence. HERE IN THE HALLOW DEPTHS OF MY MIND, manifestations form to further my insanity down a path lined with the blood of rebels. Sadness paralyzes me into an awakened comatose state. The worst day in my life ended and I prayed to my delusion to rest my heart from this deep anger that grips it. My eyes closed and my consciousness sunk away into a deep abyss. I found myself at the end of a long wooden dining table in front of a carefully crafted meal. My feet brushed across the antique Turkish rug that lay underneath. Old hard covered books filled wooden shelves around the room and oil paintings interrupted the even flow every few feet. Nietzsche’s Zarathustra caught my eyes for a moment, but then, my eyes quickly jumped to a painting of three men on their knees scraping a wood floor clean of the old varnish. Victorian wooden chairs with hand stitched cloth covers sat in the corners of the room. A gleaming chandelier dangled above the center of the table and a man in a black suit hovered across his bowl of soup, while gently sipping the liquid into his lips. He looked familiar. Had I seen him before?
“What are you doing here?” He burped out without looking up to see my amazement. I watched as spoonfuls of soup entered his mouth like a conveyor belt.
