Project Main Details
Voicing this character will be more like an acting role. I've included some of the narrative with her lines for your audition so that you can better understand the scene. But, when auditioning for the lines below, just read the lines that Amy says and not the narrative or other characters. I have put several different sections from different parts of the book so you can get a feel for the different personality changes. 2010-04-29 12:25:20 GMT 2010-04-30 19:36:32 (GMT -06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed - Note: This project was manually closed by the voice seeker before it reached its original deadline. 0 0 1 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. “I don’t have your money,” she yelled. “And I’m not your girl. I’d rather die than be your girl!”
LATER IN THE STORY:
“Look,” said Chris, “I don’t know what you expect me to do, we only have enough food and oxygen to last a few weeks at best, where do you think we’re going to go?”
“I don’t know,” she said, “I just know I’d rather die than go back there.”
Chris thought about it for a moment, “Oh that’s right. You are in trouble for murder, actually, two murders.”
“It wasn’t murder,” she snapped back, “It was self-defense.
AND EVEN LATER IN THE STORY:
Chris wasn’t particularly thrilled about that, but Amy was the one that was petrified of the idea. She said, “I can’t put that thing on. I’ll get claustrophobic!”
Chris could already tell she was beginning to panic seeing other people suit up into space suits, placing the helmets over their heads.
“I can’t do it!” she whispered loudly. Some of the other people started to look over at them.
“Amy,” Chris said calmly, “This vessel has no airlock. So everybody has to put a suit on before they depressurize and open the door. We don’t have a choice.”
He could see the fear in her eyes, and wasn’t quite certain why she was being so unreasonable. Jaden came back over and asked, “Is something wrong?”
Chris, trying to cover for Amy, said, “Um.. No. Nothing’s wrong. Just give us a minute.”
Chris took the suit and began trying to get it around Amy. He gently whispered to her, “It is only for a few minutes, and I’ll help you with it. It will be okay. If you’d like you can keep your eyes closed and imagine you are somewhere else.”
Chris put on the rest of his suit, and saved Amy’s helmet for last. He made sure the communications equipment was working and that the two of them were on the same channel. “Amy, can you hear me?” he said. His voice sounded like he was talking inside of a glass jar.
She still had her eyes closed, and responded, “Yes, I hear you.”
“Good,” he said, “Just keep your eyes closed and imagine you are laying on a beach.”
She tried to smile, but Chris could tell her breathing had gotten heavy. “On a beach, got it.”
Chris continued, “There’s nothing around you for miles, just lots of sand, the ocean waves splashing around. There are kids building a sand castle next to you, laughing and playing.”
With a little heavier breathing Amy said, “Okay. And there are some people playing volleyball on the beach too.”
Amy could feel herself being tugged around by the hand.
“Yeah, that’s right,” said Chris, “Do you like to play volleyball?”
“Yes,” she answered, “I love it. I used to play when I was a teenager.”
Chris continued to pull her along, “Okay, good. When we get back to Providia we’ll play volleyball.”
Amy seemed to be calming down a little bit, but kept her eyes tightly closed. She said, “What if they have never heard of it before?”
Chris replied, “No problem, we’ll teach them how to play it.”
