Arlington National Cemetery.

Originally the grand estate of George Washington’s adopted grandson, Arlington would eventually become the pre-civil war residence of General Robert E. Lee.

At war’s end, the federal government confiscated Arlington and over time, transformed it into the nation’s most famous military cemetery… the final resting place of over a quarter-million honored dead.

(JOE SMITH), a prominent photographer for over 30 years and long time resident of Arlington, Virginia, was asked to participate in a special project at the historic site.
