Project Main Details
For that we have developed a short movie, which requires some speak. At the moment we seek both female and male speaks. You don't have to act / scream or anything - actually just use your soft and profesional voice. The primary role of SD-OPS is to receive IBM software orders, identify the parts to ship in the order and break them down to elements and structure these logically.
The orders running through SD-OPS are software orders. We have chosen to use a metaphor as software orders can be pretty abstract to relate to
Imagine you buy a car. You decide on a Porsche 911. You order a white car with toned windows. The car salesman acknowledges your order and you leave the shop happily unaware of the process you have started.
A car is not just a car. It consists of thousands of spare parts and the process of transforming the item “a car” into a long list of spare parts is what we call..... an explosion
IBM do not sell cars. We produce software, yet software consists of a long list of information and spare parts, just as cars.
SD-OPS handles this list of spare parts or items, the “recipie” of the software package so to speak.
The question is ... ”what if 10 orders came in, 100 orders or even 1000 .. asking for various software solutions ?.
SD-OPS create a list for each order. 1 order - one list, 10 orders - 10 lists.
What happens if 10 lists contain the same item? What if identical items from 10 lists are consolidated into other lists with the same item? Then you can start to optimize production and distribution and save time and money!!! In the next movie about PILO you can see how we do that,

Speak no 2
PILO’s primary role is to process the orders through our manufacturing and logistics systems and get the order in the hands of a mail carrier for delivery to the customer the order.
When PILO receive the order from SD-OPS, it is received as a ”list”, each order has it’s own list, the ”recipe of the software package”
PILO receives thousands of orders which are checked and PILO now sorts the items and creates its own lists, the new lists are created to “trim” the production, for example by compiling all the identical items in separate lists.
PILO process the orders in various ways. It checks if the items (for example work books) are in stock. If not, a request is sent to the print vendor to print new work books.
Also PILO ensures that all the items in the software are manufactured correct to match the client’s requirements
It also checks the destination of the package and based on all the elements of the software order (for example complexity, size) a final price can be provided to the client.
In the presentation of SD-OPS we used a metaphor. We described how purchase of a car requires a long list of “spare parts” which provides the recipe of a car. We will end with this very same metaphor. Just as there are more than one type of cars- different models and types yet with duplicate spare parts so is Software. We produce a wide range of unique software packages.
PILO processes all sorts of orders and solutions in the most cost effective manner as an output we have a package ready to be shipped throughout the world. This is a small peak into how IBM ensures fast, efficient service and solutions to our clients. N/A
