Animated Degree Project ZDLTK53308555114X
This is my senior thesis film in animation. It is the story of a father raising his son to live in world where he will not exist. It is based on my father's upbringing by my militaristic grandfather who died in Vietnam when my father was seven. He an Irish man from a small town in MA who fell in love with a Japanese woman (my grandmother) and culture during his time in the army overseas. While he had boundless love for my grandmother, he raised my father in a very cold, survivalist manner - most likely due to the fact that he knew he would one day die in war and his son would have to learn to grow up without a father. This film means a lot to me. The narration needs to be poignant, still and pensive - almost as if the narrator (who is supposed to be my father) is reflecting on his past.
