Hello, and welcome to ********* and our level 101 course on American Whiskey.

Getting to know the basics about American whiskey is one of the fundamentals for anyone who is in a spirits service, sales or mixology role. As one of the top 5 spirits consumed in the United States today, American Whiskey is versatile in terms of mixology, is defined by several very popular segments, is increasingly profitable due to premiumisation, and is currently helping fuel the explosion in 'craft spirits', one of the most important areas for growth in the spirits industry today.

In this level 101 course, we'll strive to bring you the facts behind each of these features and trends in American Whiskey. We'll begin with some basic history on American Whisky origins, then take a look at segment definitions and Labeling - to help you sort through the many varieties; we'll move on through key ways in which production processes among whiskies differ, and then finish up with a look at leading brands and how to serve and mix them. The whole course lasts a short 36 minutes - consisting of individual video sections. Following the course, be sure to check out our practice exercise to test your new or refreshed knowledge.
