Adovkids Nonprofit Movie ZDLTK494014939987X
Advokids is a nonprofit organization that is a legal resource for California foster children and their advocates. We are quickly expanding our organization and have created a simple, amateur iMovie to put on our website, show at fundraisers, and email to our database of about 3000 people in hopes to gain for sponsors. We have limited funds but we know that a voice will make it that much more personal and tug at the heartstrings than simply have the text on the screen. We would love a voice, male or female, that can read our script of 315 words for our movie that is currently 3 and a half minutes long with text. We want to shorten the movie with the voiceovers in order to shorten the movie and to keep our audience’s attention. We are looking for a voice that in concerned, compassionate, and caring. The movie is basically a PowerPoint that we turned into an iMovie with close-ups of children from diverse backgrounds and discusses the current state of the foster care system and what Advokids is doing to help.

70,000 children live in foster care in California.
Many children cycle through the foster care system…
…and experience multiple placements.
Infants and babies are the largest group to enter, remain, and re-enter the foster care system.
50% of children 0-3 years old experience multiple foster care placements.
Multiple foster care placements present a host of traumas for very young children.
Babies grieve when their relationships are disrupted and this sadness adversely affects their development.
Although foster care was designed to be a “temporary solution”…
…Nearly half (45%) of children have been in foster care for more than 2 years.
Those who are adopted still spend an average of 30.6 months in foster care.
Those who “age out” of foster care, or are never adopted, do not fare well.
43% of foster children become homeless after 1 year of aging out.
46% never finish high school.
3% graduate from college.
50% are unemployed.
33% are on public assistance.
10% of females and 27% of males…are in jail.
How can we do better?
The juvenile court is ultimately responsible for the well being of every foster child.
Advokids’ legal services promote and facilitate child-focused advocacy…
Making sure that issues affecting a child’s physical safety, security, and emotional health are considered by the judge.
Advokids teaches people how to bring information about the welfare of the child to the court’s attention.
Providing access to the child welfare system allows for transparency and improves accountability.
Accountability keeps our children in foster care safer and improves their permanency outcomes.
Advokids maintains the only free statewide telephone hotline for foster child advocates.
Advokids’ website instructs and empowers individuals seeking to petition the court on behalf of a foster child.
Advokids’ seminars improve practice in juvenile court and lead to better outcomes for foster children.
When children are placed in foster care, their world is forever changed.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
