Social Media is a powerful new tool to connect and do business. The average person now has the ability to reach an enormous number of readers--even equaling or surpassing traditional media outlets.

We embrace social media at Acme to collaborate with colleagues, candidates and clients—and we reach millions of people every day through or corporate pages. We inform, share and engage around the shared interest of our audiences and our people: from company news to industry insights, our services, to what it’s like to work here.

Social Media helps us promote our capabilities, build stronger relationships and enhance our reputation.

If you are participating in social media today, chances are you have questions about the line between using social media in your work and personal lives. Many of you are tweeting during the day, posting updates on Facebook and simply keeping connected. And that's what social media is all about—being an active member of the new connected economy.

This course will give you the knowledge you need to exercise good judgment when using social media—especially as you navigate that line between work and personal participation.

I hope this course will help you understand how you should use of social media as an Acme employee. You’ll learn some clear “do’s and don’ts”—our guidelines will help to ensure you work within Acme’s global policies and Code of Business Ethics.

But, while guidelines are helpful, they can’t address every eventuality. You’re sure to face situations in the everyday use of social media where only your good judgment will keep Acme’s reputation safe. This course will present situations where it’s a “judgment call”, and give you the opportunity to explore those gray areas. We want you to think before you post.

Most important, while the way in which we use social media is evolving, the way in which we treat clients, partners and each other remains unchanged. Our Core Values, existing policies and Code of Business Ethics apply to social media just as they would to any emerging technology or communications channel.

This course is part of our dedication to ensuring Acme continues to be a world-class work environment. I hope it gives you the confidence to unlock the power of social media responsibly and make the most of the opportunities offered in our new, connected world. Thank you.
