A brief pragmatic guide to bluffing in hold em
This script was written for a student project based around bluffing in Texas Hold'Em, as part of a larger body of work all centered around lies and deception (for a show in approximately six weeks).

The copy was intended to be sort of tongue-in-cheek, with a bit of smart-ass to it. I'd imagined the piece with in a male voice, likely with a subtle accent or bit of gruff. I'm not quite set on any particular voice at the moment.

Anyways, my work can be seen at ******************************** if you'd like to take a look at my previous work to get a general idea of what I do.

How to betray/destroy the trust of your friends and co-workers:
a brief, pragmatic guide to bluffing in hold’em.

Bluffing is the great equalizer of poker. Well-executed bluffs can win you pots in spite of terrible hands, but should only be used conditionally. Here are a couple of guidelines to give your dishonest endeavors the best chances of success.

Bluff only when you can’t win otherwise. Raising simply isn’t a bluff if you’ve got pocket aces with a two-ace flop.

Don’t bluff every hand. Repeated bluffs become predictable, and therefore lose credibility and strength.

Bluffs are significantly stronger when fewer players remain in the pot. From a purely mathematic standpoint, it’s much easier to bluff one or two people compared to bluffing the whole table.

Avoid subtle bluffs when playing against impulsive, unintelligent opponents. It’s near impossible to make reliable reads on bad players, because they are bad.

Lastly, target predictable players. An easily readable player is a prime target for bluffs. Your unsuspecting co-worker, who only knows the polite, helpful you? Perfect.

Bluffing is a complex ordeal, and cannot be covered with a few simple rules. But these should provide a general idea of when you can expect bluffing to perform decently. Now go forth and deceive!
