AWARD 1

VO:
When torrential rains hit and flooding forced the emergency evacuation of one of the largest nursing homes in Lawrence, Massachusetts, someone had to take charge of a life-and-death situation. 241 elderly patients were in peril. Kathleen saw to it that all necessary transfer vehicles were in place and appropriately equipped before being dispatched. She then coordinated all movements … orchestrating all patient transfers to hospitals, other nursing homes and care facilities away from the threat. In a high-intensity, pressure-laden scenario, Kathleen expertly coached fellow dispatchers and directed all activities until each patient was out of danger. Kathleen … the 2007 PSAP’s Finest Award Winner for Line Supervisor of the Year.

Award #2:

VO:Tragedy rocked the Chesire, Connecticut Police Department. Shockingly and in the span of less than a year, two of Cheshire PD’s Police Chiefs died unexpectedly. Another deeply experienced deputy chief retired. Suddenly, Cheshire PD was lacking valuable leadership at a time when critical technology upgrades had just begun. Mike, a 19-year veteran of the force, forged ahead with a $140,000 upgrade program that included new, installed mobile computers for the Cheshire PD fleet of vehicles …the re-wiring of the entire complex so it could accommodate upgraded phone and computer access wire … the movement of a server room … the installation of an upgraded phone system … as well as ongoing maintenance and technical service. At a time when leadership was needed most, Mike was there. Mike … the 2007 PSAP’s Finest Award Winner for Technician of the Year.

Award #3: Telecommunicator of the Year

VO: Monday, March 12, 2007 … 9:30PM … Orlando PD receives a domestic violence call from a frantic female who advises her husband is threatening to shoot her. She is hysterical. Suddenly, a weapon is fired. The call is disconnected. With veteran cool, Justin attempts to re-establish communication to gain critical information for responding officers. The phone is answered . . . by the family’s 12-year-old daughter, and Justin discovers the man has killed himself. Comforting the terrified little girl, he assures her that help is on its way and instructs the mother and daughter to leave the house and wait for officers to arrive. Calm, cool professionalism in the midst of family terror. Justin … the 2007 PSAP’s Finest Award Winner for Telecommunicator of the Year.
