Project Main Details
I am looking for a voice actor who would be willing to do this initial recording, as well as the final version in the next few weeks after we get approval from the client. This first version will be used merely to pitch the script to the client. Final payment will be made after the final recording--which will be needed before June 23rd. So, I'm looking for someone who will be open to reading at least two versions, with possible small changes to perfect the intonations and timing.
Visually, the commercial will consist of key characters walking and interacting in the airport. The shots will mostly be steadicam shots with lots of movement and sweeping pans. It will look inspirational, new, clean, sophisticated, and bright. The tone of the script should marry the look of the commercial.
I am looking for a powerful voice with grit and sophistication. The script is rhyming, but I don't want it to sound like a nursery rhyme. There could be an air of whimsical and mysterious--but again, not too over the top. The voice should sound poetic, mature, and distinguished. No strong accent, other than maybe a very slight hint of british. But we are not looking for a british accent. The reading should be done slowly, with careful intonations to stress certain words. We are open to how you might interpret the script. We would like creative readings. Backslashes indicate long pauses in the script.
Here are a few examples that I like:
US Poet Laureate Rita Dove beautifully reads one of her poems - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uKxkTxXRu4
https://youtu.be/5Ax45-TDVbM (Good grit and sophistication here, but without the british accent)
https://youtu.be/-w0HnD8Oobg (I like the scruffy voice and general age demographic)
The recording should be anywhere from 60-85 seconds. If the first version is not perfect, I can work on the timing on the second version. There is some wiggle room, regardless. If you read a 60 second version, we will most likely leave long pauses between the stanzas. If you would like to record a shorter and longer version, that would be welcomed.
Recording should be high-quality. Our aim is to impress the client. If you send us a low-quality recording, most likely we will not select it--even if we like your voice.
Email recorded files or provide online link to download.
- "CHO" is pronounced: "choe" (rhymes with toe)
- In the second stanza, "unfurl" and "world" should rhyme.
-In the last line, "C-ville" is pronounced like "see-ville".

we open our eyes, we look around, we rearrange
Ever faster / smarter / sophisticated / safer for you
The craft you crave right now / local and new
And we know that innovations stem / from tradition’s higher ground
for those who dare ascend / to find what our founders found
That new ideas can first unfurl
from one small corner / to the world
And what new plans will new planes bring?
to settle here and spread their wings?
For from that window one can watch
a dream touch down / a dream take off
You’ll see it from that bird’s eye view
as C-ville grows, we grow with you
