Welcome to the Center that’s all about me, all about water. That’s why they call me Hydro—I’m here to guide you through the wonders of water. You can catch me here and there as you explore the wonder, the legend, the mystery of me, uh, water. Thank you very much.
I hate to brag, but water is actually the mainstay of all civilizations, the heart of what sustains us, and the key to life in every town, every hamlet, every creature large and small, from the whales to the microbes, and everything in between. As a matter of fact, I’m the big enchilada—that makes things happen around here.
Me, water, is a simple and useful thing. But I’m also the stuff of legends. Humans have quite literally moved mountains to maintain adequate fresh water supplies. For centuries, across all cultures, poetry, art, music, and myths have celebrated me in my many forms. So join the celebration. Take a look around—the spirit of me, of water, is embodied in the gods, thunderbirds, and sea monsters that form the stuff of legends, religions, and even NIGHTMARES! Sorry, got a bit carried away there, (cough) a little out of control.
But as you cruise this cool water center, think about water on a GLOBAL scale. How I get moved, how I get used, how I make my way over hill and dale, over oceans and mountaintops, right to your bathroom spigot—then back to the ocean again. You’ll also learn how I get sometimes polluted, and sometimes cleaned, but always on the move, always in demand, and always VERY popular!
All around the globe, people are demanding more of me—all the time. You people are reproducing like rabbits, while the world’s fresh water sources remain small, and finite. Only 1% of the world’s water is available to you. That’s all you get folks! Now and forever. Paa-LEASE, use it wisely.
So enjoy your tour, enjoy the grandeur of water, and try to conserve it!
