Project Main Details
The series is comprised of three episodes for kids in grades 3-5, and three more episodes for kids in grades 6-8. Each episode will be approximately 20 minutes in length.
We are looking for voiceover talent that can narrate with an elegant yet youthful sound. This is a high definition series with beautiful plant footage. So while it should be fun and sharp because it is for kids, it should also be elegant. We do not want anything too animated, overexcited, or campy.
Our total budget is $2700, and we prefer non-union talent.

NARRATOR: IF YOU EVER COME ACROSS A PEAT BOG IN EUROPE, BEWARE OF THE BOG PEOPLE.
SPHAGNUM IS THE PRINCIPAL COMPONENT OF PEAT, A DEPOSIT OF DEAD PLANT MATERIAL THAT GROWS IN WETLANDS AND BOGS.
HUNDREDS OF WELL-PRESERVED BODIES HAVE BEEN UNEARTHED IN PEAT BOGS ACROSS EUROPE. THESE WETLANDS OFFER COLD, ACIDIC CONDITIONS THAT PREVENT DECAY AND MUMMIFY HUMAN FLESH.
NARRATOR: ONCE A SEED STARTS TO GERMINATE, ITS ROOTS TAKE HOLD AND THE PLANT BEGINS TO MATURE. PLANTS CONTINUE TO GROW THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES, AND THEY DO SO FROM SPECIALIZED GROWING REGIONS CALLED MERISTEMS.
MERISTEMS ARE LOCATED AT SEVERAL KEY LOCATIONS: THE STEM AND BRANCH TIPS, LATERAL BUDS, EDGES OF THE LEAVES, AND THE TIPS OF ROOTS. THEY ARE COMPRISED OF PERPETUALLY YOUNG PLANT TISSUE THAT DIVIDES CONSTANTLY TO PRODUCE NEW PLANT CELLS. THIS ENABLES PLANTS TO GROW IN THE DIRECTION OF LIGHT, THROUGH STEM MERISTEMS, OR IN THE DIRECTION OF WET, NUTRIENT-RICH SOIL, THROUGH ROOT MERISTEMS.
Here is a sample from one of the six episodes. Full script can be emailed upon request.
