Project Main Details
Female:
Here’s how your scanner works. As you drag items over the scanner glass, a light beam reads the barcode.
After the scanner has read the barcode, the information is sent to the main computer and matched with a price and description.
The price and description is what you will see appear on the cashier display.
Male: You’ll get different kinds of signals when you are scanning items. Some signals you’ll see, some you’ll hear, and some you’ll get a printed message.
Visual signals are lights on the scale. If the light turns green, the item scanned. If the light turned red, scan the item a second time.
Another signal is the scanner beep. When there is a good scan, you’ll hear a single beep like this.
When there is a bad scan or an error, you’ll hear a single beep like this.
Remember, attempt to scan items twice before you key in the UPC code. Let’s take a closer look at how to key in a UPC code when an item will not scan.
