Project Main Details
Many thanks to everyone who submitted for this earlier, but we're continuing our search.
We're looking for two voice actors with comedy experience to play characters for videogame review segments to be viewed on the Internet. The reviews have a legal theme: a lawyer is making a "case" for how good or bad a videogame is, and a judge is handing down a verdict.
REQUIREMENTS: We can only consider you if...
You have a comedy/improv background.
You're in your 20s up to early 30s.
You play, enjoy, and understand videogames.
The key to both characters reads is FUNNY. These are comedy segments- entertaining, cool, with an appealing, fresh sound. The courtroom setting is just window dressing and the tone is not dry or legalish AT ALL. Have fun with the copy and see what you can do.
The lawyer in particular should sound in some fashion like a dude
(not necessarily a 14 year old or anything, but someone who actually loves,
plays, and knows games) making his case to the powers that be. A dude who's
funny, fun loving, likable.
Your read should be:
* COMEDIC! (punchlines need to be delivered more like a standup bit)
* LIVELY! with good energy (peppy without being rushed)
* UNAFRAID! to experiment with the script, riffing and improv IS ENCOURAGED
* FUNNY! most of all
There will be at least nine of these segments produced on a weekly to- semi-weekly basis. Our budget is $300 for the lawyer and $150 for the judge. You'll deliver your files via FTP, email, and we might record you using ISDN, but having convenient access to your own mic and recording setup is a requirement.

Script Details
Lawyer: O-kaaaaay. Your honor, over the next two minutes I intend to prove that X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse is a solid improvement over its predecessor. Like in the first Legends, you control of a team of four mutants as they face an onslaught of, well, everything. So if you’re a fan of superhero mutants, Diablo-style gameplay, punching and/or kicking, or…
Judge: Games with very long titles?
Lawyer: Yes! Then this game should fit like a spandex jumpsuit. That said I have no problem using the word “mediocre” when describing this game.
Judge: Question: doesn’t the word “mediocre” have negative connotations?
Lawyer: Unfounded, your honor. Mediocre means ordinary. Allow me to explain. Exhibit A, Hot Mutant Action! This game has more hacking and slashing than you can shake an admantium claw at. RPG gamers will love the deep systems for leveling up and customizing characters, while action junkies will appreciate the ability to automate this whole process and get straight to ass whoopin’. And the level design really drives home the fact that you’re in the Marvel universe. It’s quite impressive.
Judge: Marvelous.
Lawyer: That too. Plus, as any comic book-worm can attest to, when the X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants start teaming up to save the day (as they do here), you just know things are about to get grimy.
Judge: Grimy like your clothes? I can smell you from all the way up here.
Lawyer: It’s a long game, okay? How often do you change that robe, anyway?
Judge: Let’s move on.
Lawyer: Right. While the qualities of Exhibit A are all nice and good, they may be undermined by Exhibit B: Repetitive Repetition. As with your judicial fashion sense, the game soooooo lacks variety. If you’re the type of player that loves wandering around huge, sprawling levels, smashing endless hordes of evildoers, and snatching up the goodies they drop—well, you’re in luck. If you crave more variety in your quests to save the universe, well, you’re in trouble.
Judge: You’ll be in trouble, counselor, if you don’t tell me why those who played the first game should be interested in the sequel.
Lawyer: I was just getting there, your honor, Exhibit C: Legendary Improvements. Okay, this game’s got a bigger roster of mutants, significantly improved graphics and artificial intelligence, and online multiplayer! Though similar at first glance, it’s bigger and better than the last game in almost every conceivable way.
Judge: Splendid. And your closing comments, counselor?
Lawyer: X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, from beginning to end, can be played in cooperation with your buddies over Xbox Live or PS2 online-— which, I think you’ll agree, is pretty sweet. It’s not the most original game ever conceived, but what’s here is solid, pretty, and polished.
Judge: Oh, like my desk.
Lawyer: Kinda. If you’re into powering-up your characters, laying the smack down with loads of special attacks, and collecting all sorts of superhero swag, you’ll want to spend some time with this game. Your Honor, I rest my case.
Judge: Thank God. In the matter of the Gamers of America versus X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, I find the defendant worthy of rental! This court is adjourned.
Judge: X-men Legends II, have you anything to say for yourself?
