VO for CMA
VO: Hatred (pause) Differences (pause) Hardships (pause)… these are just some of the barriers the enemy has placed in the path of those seeking to share the gospel… But in today’s church, God is tearing down these walls in amazing ways.
VO: In North Port, Fl, God’s grace and mercy have taken a church through many hardships, and allowed them to overcome the walls of terrible circumstances. Our story begins with the birth of a satellite church.
VO: But in this case, starting a church took much more, it took a hurricane. On August 13th, 2004, only weeks before the satellite church was to begin, a tropical storm in the Atlantic ocean began to pick up momentum, and by the time in made it’s way to the gulf coast, it had transformed into what would be known as hurricane Charlie.
VO: The destruction in Port Charlotte was devastating. Hurricane Charlie had destroyed the community in many ways. Homes and businesses were ruined and families were without power and water.
VO: But the church was not okay. Hurricane Charlie had damaged the building so badly, Alliance Church was not able to meet in their own facility.
VO: Suddenly, a new church was born. But unlike most church plants, details like worship times and teaching series were the farthest things from the congregations mind. What outwardly seemed to be a time of devastation, turned into be a time of building community.
VO: As the people of Port Charlotte were able to return to their homes and begin their regular church services, they left a church that had already become a close knit family. A church that had overcome the wall of bad circumstances. Today, North Port is a thriving church plant, and with the benefit of time, they can see the permanent fingerprint left on their church by hurricane Charlie.
VO: Most in the church would agree that north port would not be what it is today without this tragedy that transformed a church body in a way only God could do.
VO: Though the walls of bad circumstances can be some of the toughest to endure, our next story tackles an area where most people don’t venture to pursue… the walls of complacency.
VO: We begin with a young man, an old church, and a vision for change.
VO: With an eagerness for something fresh and new, Colby and his congregation have set out to reach the community with a unique approach.
VO: Though these new relational approaches are different from most church models, its effectiveness is already visible.
VO: In sharing their home and lives with the people that Colby and Stacie have come in contact with, they have solidified a trust with their new friends that can be built upon. With something as simple as food, fellowship, and good times, they have already shared the gospel of Christ’s love in many ways.
VO: Though most Churches seek to reach out in new ways, taking the initiative to take that step is never an easy task. But as Colby and his church body are finding out, as they focus on simple relational methods, God is being faithful to their efforts, as well as guiding them as they seek to continue to overcome the fear of change.
VO: Just as God has been faithful in breaking down walls in Gainesville and North Port, He has been hard at work in South Florida as well.
VO: In recent years, reaching out to diverse groups has become a core value in many churches. Yet the walls between cultures are still strong in American cities. For Christians to spread the gospel to cultures that normally aren’t receptive to Christ has proven to be a real challenge. But in a small suburb in South Florida, two churches with extremely different cultures are facing that challenge head on.
VO: The story of these cultures coming to Christ is a miracle in itself. But the true wonder of our story only begins here…
VO: For thousands of years, the Jewish and Arabian Cultures have been at odds.
VO: But when Bruce and Gerges met at a Pastor’s conference, they would create a bond that would produce results many would not think possible.
VO: While amazing stories began to surface of people finding peace with each other, there have still been cultural challenges and years of bias to overcome.
VO: But despite these differences, their common love in Christ has formed friendships that defy thousands of years of conflict. And the walls and lies that keep these groups from being reached for Christ are coming down.
VO: Now that a relationship has formed with these groups, the potential for reaching to others is immense. What has taken place in this town is only the beginning of the impact that these churches will have on their community. With such a great testimony of God’s healing power, it will be hard to squelch the fire of passion in these people’s hearts.
VO for Revitalization
VO: In life and in ministry, there are many lessons to learn, some much harder to experience than others. Though God teaches us that he will never leave us nor forsake us, there are times when we feel abandoned and alone.
VO: On the Northern Beaches of Florida, a small town church knew the pains of discouragement and despair all too well. Though Palm Coast Bible had been an established church for a long while, the joy of their church body was at an all time low.
VO: At the same time of Palm Coast Bible’s hopelessness, hundreds of miles away, a struggling pastor was coming to terms with his career in ministry.
VO: Though Rick was not sure whether or not he should continue his life in fulltime ministry, he was willing to share his struggles and doubts with the leadership God had placed in his life.
VO: Sure of Rick’s heart for the Lord, the leadership of CMA encouraged him to give one more try at leading a church. And who better for a discouraged pastor to lead, than a church looking for the same kind of encouragement as he was.
VO: Within a short amount of time, the Joy of Christ’s redeeming love began to infiltrate both Rick and all the members at Palm Coast.
VO: And as the church body began to grow in love and joy, every aspect of their ministry began to flourish.
VO: Perhaps it’s the haven of love and compassion that surrounds the people of Palm Coast Bible that has made all the difference.
VO: Perhaps it’s the desire for an honest and vulnerable approach that is so attractive.
VO: Whatever the answer may be, the Lord has taken all those involved and truly given them a gift of hope for other’s to see. VO for CMA
