CLOCK TICKING
ANNCR: Just now, a woman suddenly got a tremendous headache. But with so much to do, she shrugs it off…”It’s probably nothing,” she thinks. But she is wrong. She’s having a stroke. A brain attack.
These seconds are the most important seconds of her life. They are the difference between life and death, or possibly a lifetime of disability.
She stands, and feels dizzy. It’s hard to walk. She shakes her head, thinking it will pass. As she walks to get a glass of water, she realizes she’s having trouble seeing.
Her husband sees her and asks her what’s wrong. When she has difficulty answering, he calls 911. The clock is ticking. The sooner you recognize the warning signs, the sooner you can get help.
Strokes are a particular problem here in North Carolina. Stroke victims are often left with severe disabilities, but early treatment makes a big difference.
When it comes to your life, seconds count. Don’t wait until your time is up.
SFX: ALARM GOING OFF
ANNCR: This message was brought to you by the Justus-Warren Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force and the North Carolina Nutrition Network.
To learn more about strokes and stroke prevention, go to startwithyourheart.com or call 800-###-####. That’s 800-###-####.
