Script: Natchez has a history… and the tall, river bluffs looming stately over the Mississippi tell the tale. Their mysterious beauty have beckoned people for over a thousand years.
On those bluffs the Natchez Indians built their Grand Village, and the French their Fort Rosalie. Near them early Europeans built their cabins and Americans their plantation houses.
In the shadow of those bluffs, the steamboats of a young nation paddled along the currents of the river bringing goods and people. For a terrible little while, the steamboats gave way to vessels of war that heralded the end of an era – and the beginning of a new day of freedom.
