Slide 1
At (company name)we produce special purpose firewalls for one-way data transfer. We are a small business as classified by the United States Small Business Administration and we were founded in 1998. Our products are manufactured and assembled in the USA.
Slide 2
The Secure Transfer System provides a method for secure physical one-way data transfer. Standard firewalls can easily be compromised due to improper configurations, back-doors and many other reasons, our PHYSICAL ONE-WAY LINK ensures the highest level of security since the security is enforced at both endpoints. With our technology, you can transfer data from one network to another and guarantee that no information will escape from your destination network.
Slide 3
Note: This may need its own graphics that may be an animated version of the kit pic…
Yes as w3 discussed
The method is simple. Our systems are composed of two ATM cards, one send card, one receive card. Each card lives in a server that can be connected to their corresponding networks via standard Ethernet ports… The cards are connected by a fiber optic cable. The fiber carries the data from the LED transmitter on the send side to the optical receiver on the receive side… and data can not be transferred back, the hardware will not allow it... the security is ENFORCED by the hardware.
The cards are one-way OC-3 ATM cards that can transfer data at rates up to 155 Megabits per second. Depending upon your requirements, we can provide you with 5 volt cards or 3.3 volt Universal cards… we support standard Servers and the Windows, Solaris and Linux operating systems.
Slide 4
NOTE: This slide needs to be integrated with the next slide with the animation and VO…
NOTE: Make sure this is accurate…
Our products can transfer three things; files, UDP packet data and TCP streaming data… and this is regardless of file size, data size or even sending frequency. Our products provide the software to transfer files, move database records, send email, share printers and stream video content… and all with unmatched security.
Note: this needs a transition…
The security, remember, is in the hardware, the functionality is in the software.
Slide 5
We want to show you not only what our STS can transfer but several ways in which it can be used… some applications you can implement in the field.
Our Directory File Transfer System, or DFTS, Transfers files… and these can be any kind of file… binary file, ASCII file, confidential file, newsletters, word document?and as the name suggests?while maintaining the original directory hierarchy. The DFTS is being used is to send email, one-way based email -- either SMTP outbound or inbound POP3 -- the DFTS is being used to secure email transmission.
We can transfer Databases… single record, multiple records, tables, or real time database replication; using our Directory File Transfer System as the backbone we can transfer Oracle, SQL or any other type of database across the one-way link.
So, the myriad uses of the Directory File Transfer System are evident. With DFTS any file can be transferred without compromise to secure areas.
As I mentioned we also have a product that transfers UDP. UDP is commonly used for streaming content, and can be used for video, music, weather information, time data, stock market feeds… when a start or end point of a data stream is not required to decode the feed, UDP is a good choice. Our UDP Packet Broadcast Transfer system or UBTS supports Unicast which is point to point and Broadcast… our UDP Multicast Transfer System or UMTS supports multicast transfers. We use our UMTS at the heart of our Secure Streaming Video system. The SSV product transfers streaming video in MPEG 2 or MPEG 4 format depending upon your requirements.
The last flavor of data we need to mention is TCP. We can transfer TCP data securely… our TCP Packet Transfer System, or TPTS, sends TCP packets across the link.
Now… TCP is inherently a two-way protocol requiring handshaking so you should ask how we can transfer TCP in one direction… it’s actually simple, we act as a proxy. The Blue side acts as a server proxy receiving data from the client, the Red machine acts as a client proxy forwarding information to the designated destination
So, whether it’s a browser based environment to safely use eCommerce applications, or protecting satellite telemetry files brought in from ground station feeds… our TPTS solves the problem of transferring TCP data securely… not a bad trick.
All of the applications we have discussed thus far work on a local area network but also can be used on a wide area network. For the WAN scenario you need and STS at both the source and destination networks. So to protect application service providers… or secure audit and surveillance content… or work with outsourcing organizations across the ocean or across the street, use our Secure Transfer System to protect your data. As an option you may want to provide virus scanning, content filtering and encryption procedures at both ends… we can assist with this set-up.
Slide 6
NOTE: This slide needs to be integrated with the previous slide and/or requires it’s own graphic to explain and speak to the details not addressed in the previous slide…
Some of our government customers are using Owl’s systems to replace Walk-Net or Sneaker-Net so you no longer have to spend countless hours burning CD’s, creating floppies or using USB smart cards to transfer data from one domain to another. The process is faster… and can be automated as well as being significantly more secure because there is no human intervention. We have created a way to connect two normally disconnected networks without compromising security. They can’t see each other or ping each other, they are separated domains but can communicate. We support up-guard or down-guard operations… that means your data can be transferred safely from a low level security network to a high level security network OR from high to low.
In the commercial world… Financial Companies are using multiple firewalls in-tandem to protect their data… but there are issues with multiple firewall systems… whether hardware or software based, in that they require coordinated management and administration, in contrast, our products run themselves after initial configuration. Our STS will provide cost savings over multiple firewall architectures and provide significantly better security.
Other commercial applications include protecting data maintained by Application Service Providers… helping you isolate your network and comply with government regulations?including Sarbanes-Oxley, Graham Leach Biley and many others?by transferring data one-way to these compliance databases.
Slide 7
NOTE: use CC logo here, SAIC logo perhaps…
Our products are Certified by the National Information Assurance Partnership and have received the Common Criteria Certificate for Evaluation Assurance Level 2 and is pending for Level 4. Since the hardware is what is certified, software updates and enhancements do not require re-certification.
The information is pushed by the owner, not pulled. There is no electronic means in which to request a transfer. That being said, you can configure your data transfer strategy to suit your needs… follow a batch schedule, transfer the file as soon as it arrives in the source directory, or move the data when you tell it.
Owl’s products enforce security at both end-points… in the event that one of the Servers was down because of a power outage or reboot… or the fiber was disconnected, the data simply goes nowhere. When powered up, your initial configuration is still in place and you are ready to go. With the STS, you could replace the drivers or change the software… your data will still not leak back out of the destination network.
NOTE: the order of the bullets under “Convenience” may be reordered to match the script below.
Our products are also easy to use and do not require full-time administration or continuous network management, they “basically run themselves” after initial configuration and can compliment your existing network architecture.
NOTE: Why do we mention Fiber communication routes in ATM networks on the slide? What is the benefit?
Our products have been tested to 5 9s, that’s 99.999 percent reliability… and we have no field failures that we know
The initial set up is extremely intuitive …and supply scripts and tools to get your process and strategy started but many of our customers write their own scripts.
Slide 8
Our Secure Transfer System was originally developed for Sandia National Laboratories in 1998 for Nuclear Stockpile Monitoring. We have an exclusive worldwide Patent License from Sandia. Currently, our products are being used at the highest levels of security within the United States government… with close to 300 installations in government agencies, including: the US intelligence community, DoD, Department of Justice, State, Homeland Security, Department of Energy, and others.
Note: we will need a graphic to support the following.
It is important to note that each installation can support thousands of users… so anyone that has access can transfer data across the link… the cost is not based on a per seat basis, but on a per system basis. This can offer a significant cost savings.
Slide 9
This is what you get when you open the box; the components include a Send-Only card, a Receive-Only card, a fiber-optic cable, our custom drivers, associated software applications and documentation. We can also provide you with our Turn-Key option if you wish to receive our products pre-installed in recommended Servers. We will custom configure, burn in and test the Turn-Key option to suit your specifications.
Slide 10
To summarize, data transfers over a fiber optic cable from the Blue “Send server” to the Red “Receive server” in one direction only. Since the security is enforced at both end-points as opposed to a “box in the middle” firewall, our solution guarantees safe data transit.
