The dialogue was written by an american writer who needs help emulating natural british dialogue -- if there's something that a brit would say or would say differently, the writer encourages some lattitude. sample lines are preceded by an *asterisk
This represents about a tenth of the required dialogue.
Character description -ROCK STAR
His name is not important. If you didn’t know any better, you’d mistake him for just about any other 40-year-old father of a teenager who’s out of touch with the modern dress code. Nobody really remembers his name anyway, but everybody knows “that” song. The song that personifies everything that Generation X finds embarrassing about the early 80’s.
He may be asked to appear on VH1’s One Hit Wonders, but his music career is far behind him. It is important to point out however, that he is still a legend in his own mind.
If anyone ever realizes that he’s the one who sang “that song”, he rises to instant celebrity status - if but for only a fleeting moment. Although his thoughts fuel his fantasy world of the glory days, he’s grounded in reality at least deeply enough to be a great Father who’s arrived here to have a great vacation.
Most of his dialogue is to himself in dream-like thought. He has a faint British accent that sounds like he may have been a heavy smoker at one point in his life.

ROCK STAR
*Thank you mate! Been lookin’ forward to a holiday on the ol’ estate you know.
*(amazed) This place was everything I imagined it would be
CUT TO:
EXT. THE ARRIVAL AND ENTRY - DAY
The scene changes to the covered entry to the hotel entrance, or “Porte-Cochere”. The backdrop photograph reveals the polished brass and luxury appointments one would expect to find at any luxury resort. There’s something different about the staff here though. Wearing all black clothing, and moving frantically about in the background, the staff looks a lot more like concert security than bellmen and valets. This is a busy scene. Silhouettes scuttle about in the background talking bell carts indoors and jogging out to fetch the cars.
♫Almost as quickly as it entered the scene, the music fades away quickly into just a distant rhythmic beat that merges with an indistinguishable background noise of doors closing, laughter, engines and cell-phone rings.
ROCK STAR
*(To himself) I hadn’t witnessed a scene like this since I was nominated for my first Grammy back in the day. Well, my only Grammy nomination. Well, I should’ve been nominated.
*Anyway…They must have doubled security since they knew I was coming. I felt safe from the Paparazzi, but what about these bellhops and valets. I wondered if they were going to let me get inside without signing autographs.
VALET (
peels off from the cluster of silhouettes in the background and starts jogging towards the car)
ROCK STAR
*(to himself) Oh boy here we go; I guess I better find a pen. (an audible sigh then a pen click)
VALET
(Young – wide eyed and very tightly wound) May I help you with your car sir?
ROCK STAR
*(Surprised and disappointed) Oh, yeah – yes of course.
Simultaneously when he wasn’t looking a BELLMAN (must have come out of nowhere and in the blink of an eye has all the bags piled neatly on a luggage cart - before we even see his face, he’s heading into the hotel followed by his wife and daughter).
BELLMAN
Take your bags sir.
ROCK STAR
*(Somewhat overwhelmed) Uh – no, I mean yes, I mean thank you.
VOICE FROM NOWHERE
Enjoy your stay at the Hard Rock Hotel sir.
The ROCK STAR feeling spun around finds himself with no other option but to enter the hotel. A mouse-over the door opens the door with a “swoosh”. Simultaneously, the DOORMAN standing next to the door opens his palm towards the entrance and smiles invitingly.
On click - CUT TO:
EXT. SAME SCENE –TIGHT ON DOORMAN- DAY
The scene zooms to a tighter shot of the entrance. The doorman has a smile on his face and is making eye contact; He definitely has something he wants to say…
DOORMAN
(Friendly as if approaching a stranger in an airport that looks like someone you know) Excuse me sir…
As he speaks he’s holding up a small disposable camera.
ROCK STAR
*(to himself) It was clear to me that I wasn’t getting past this guy without letting him have a photo with me.
DOORMAN
(Handing him the camera) Your wife dropped this on her way in.
ROCK STAR
*(Disappointed) Oh…er, well, uh thanks mate.
DOORMAN
My pleasure sir. Please enjoy your stay here sir – You’ll want to make sure and visit the pool and The Kitchen while you’re here.
ROCK STAR
*Thanks again mate. Just point me to the pub I always say eh? (laughing as if he made a bad joke followed by awkward silence).
