we are creating an educational computer interactive We need a non-union female voice talent to read for two characters in the computer interactive.
When the talent has been selected and approved by our client, the BPI producer will need to be able to listen in on the final recording session via a phone patch. Final media should be able to be delivered as either high-quality MP3 or AIFF files on a CD.
Since this is an educational interactive for a small museum in Lockport, the budget is low. We can offer $200 to record both characters, described below. It will not be resold or distributed any further.

Script Details

N/A
FIRST CHARACTER:
The character, Pamela Aldrich, is a young schoolteacher in Up-State New York in the year 1825. She appears in a mural, painted by A. Raphael Beck, which depicts the celebration of the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825.
ENTIRE "PAMELA ALDRICH" SCRIPT…
Good morning to thee! My name is Pamela Aldrich. I am the teacher at Lockport's first village school.
This "Celebration Day" means so much to us. What was once wilderness is now a thriving village of twenty five hundred souls. Many families live here now, thanks to the Erie Canal. Why, we've even raised $139 for the education of our young scholars. With tolls from the Canal traffic, even more money may soon be raised for education. And, who knows? Someday Lockport may even have a high school. Yes, this is truly a "Celebration Day".

SECOND CHARACTER:
The character, Tessie (a.k.a "Towpath Tessie"), is a "hoggee" in Up-State New York in the year 1835. As a "hoggee", Tessie’s job is to lead a mule team on foot along the path beside the Erie Canal, towing a boat from Buffalo to Albany.
The Tessie character has a larger role in the computer interactive, as she serves as the guide for a multiple-choice quiz game. The short game contains a total of seven multiple-choice questions. Although Tessie is a character out of the past, her voice should be appealing and approachable, as this game is aimed at kids. An illustrated graphic on the computer scene shows an almost cartoon-like representation of the character.
The script has been written to suggest a regional accent (SEE SCRIPT SAMPLE BELOW). The region is Up-State New York, along the Erie Canal in 1835. So, if an accent is attempted, it should NOT be an Old West accent, but rather something perhaps closer to a Mid-West accent.
SAMPLE FROM THE "TOWPATH TESSIE" SCRIPT...
INTRO:
Hello to yuh! "Towpath Tessie's" the name. I'm a "hoggee". That's what canawlers call a mule-driver.
GAME INSTRUCTIONS:
The year's "1835" and you are the Captain of a line boat carrying cargo and passengers from Buffalo to Albany. To get there quickly, I'll ask yuh some questions 'bout the Erie Canal. Three correct answers will get yuh to Albany! Guess wrong and you might hear from Old Sal, here! Ready? We're on our way!
FIRST QUESTION:
So, how long do yuh think it took to build the Erie Canal? Was it…
10 Years?
25 Years?
8 years ? or
100 years?
IF CORRECT ANSWER IS SELECTED:
Yer right! It took 8 years, from 1817 to 1825, to construct the Grand Erie Canal. Now yuh can move along the canal!
IF WRONG ANSWER IS SELECTED:
Ooops… Sounds like Sal's got a hitch in her harness! The correct answer is "8 years". The canal was under construction from 1817 to 1825. Try the next question.
[The total script includes 7 multiple-choice questions and responses for both correct and incorrect answers.]

Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
