2nd Call for Helena Rubinstein Documentary ZD1293187
*THIS IS A SECOND CALL FOR AUDITIONS* We are looking for a young, modern, fresh voice to help us tell the story of Helena Rubinstein. Please submit a custom demo of the script provided to be considered (please don't read the numbers as part of the audition - they are just there for the sake of counting the lines). We need a true storyteller, and the sound should be conversational, warm and emotional. We are trying to avoid the "newscaster" sound - we want something that feels like you a telling the story to a friend - it shouldn't sound overly authoritative. This is for internet distribution only, it will not be broadcast or used commercially. Thank you for your time & interest!

1 - Born in Poland in 1870, Helena Rubinstein was the oldest of eight girls --- and was never considered very pretty. 2 - Her parents tried to marry her off at age 17, but instead she ran away to live with relatives faraway in Australia. 3 - The rest of her life would stem from this first bold act of independence. 4 - Australia was the first place she ever felt beautiful. People commented on her soft, smooth skin. 5 - Feeling beautiful made her feel confident. --- And her instincts told her this was a marketable concept – “self-confidence in a compact.” 6 - She formulated and started selling small batches of what she called “Valaze cream.” 7 Demand for the cream – and her natural skills in marketing – enabled her to open a single-room beauty salon in Melbourne, Australia. 8 - After Melbourne, Helena opened a second salon in Sydney. 9 - Then decided to prove herself in Europe. 10- But, women were not allowed to take out bank loans – so she laid out her own 100,000 dollars to open up a salon in London. 11 - Then… she opened in Paris… But she was still growing… 12 - By the mid-1920s, Rubinstein had almost single-handedly built the first global cosmetics empire. 13 - Before Elizabeth Arden, Revlon, and Estee Lauder became household names, Helena Rubinstein was who women looked to, to help them define their own standard of beauty. 14 – And, she had a gift for timing. 15 – (option line): Her sale to Lehman Brothers was right before the stock market crash of 1929. 16 - At the end of her life in 1965, Rubinstein had salons and factories in 15 countries, employed 32,000 people and was worth over 100 million dollars. 17 - She had armed 20th century women around the world with “self-confidence in a compact.”
