Since the mid 1800s, EGS has been manufacturing the highest quality components for use in the power industry.
Today, the foundry business has changed. The bulk of electrical component manufacturing has moved offshore. Yet, almost alone in its industry, EGS maintains an advanced foundry complex in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Made in the U.S.A. in a plant awarded by OSHA as one of the cleanest and safest of its kind.
Why? Because this is the only way we can be sure we’re providing the best, most consistent, most dependable components available every time, everywhere. The only way we can control the process start to finish.
At EGS, it always starts with the people.
There is no substitute for years of experience. For skilled hands and the best methods available. For people who take pride in what they do. Who know what’s at stake when so many depend on the products they make. People who care.
To deliver the best demands only the best of materials. Iron. Copper-free aluminum for corrosion resistance. Steel for precision. Time tested for dependability. And the newest technology for today’s applications.
It continues with the process. Precision castings demand the ability to implement close, precise control of everything, from start to finish. The casting sand, the metallurgical expertise, the research, the testing, the quality control that has to back up the outstanding reputation EGS has become known for over the years.
The foundry process is an example of the strict control EGS builds into the manufacturing. We stock a vast inventory of patterns from which we make our molds. Sand is carefully selected, screened, and compacted to create a smooth finish on the product.
In addition, the metal we pour into those molds is exactly controlled to result in a precise blank, ready for machining into a finished piece with consistent fit and tolerances. Where necessary, zinc electroplating and hot dip galvanizing make each component ready for installation in every conceivable environment.
Before many of our 15,000 plus product designs made it to market, they were first created for application specific needs They did not become catalog items until we could prove not only that they would work as prototypes, but even more critical, that we could stand behind the consistency and quality of their manufacturing processes. Even today, EGS is eager to design and manufacture the exact components you may need for your project.
So, the insulator, or vapor-proof housing, or coupler, or connector you buy today has this powerful heritage of craftsmanship and care standing behind it. The shared knowledge of industry associations, like UL, NECA, NFPA (ETC.) and most important of all, the continued loyalty of the best and brightest in our industry.
Because everyone in the EGS family knows what’s at stake every time someone makes, delivers, installs, and uses one of our products.
Trust.
