Public Lead - 269990 - A female actress who can read the... 269990
A female voice actress who can read the women's parts in a new play, King David. There are a total of ten female voices, ranging from a Teaching Assistant, to Shulamite old King David's young concubine, and the voices of each of his eight angry wifes. Except for the introduction of the play, which is in prose, all of the female voices are in poems of from 8 to 14 lines. I have access to a first rate recording studio in Burbank, and expect to record the play, which, in all will run about 1 hour and thirty minutes or perhaps as much as 1 hour and forty five minutes. The female voices will, in the final take run about thirty to forty minutes of the whole play. I am a working lawyer and will have to record with the actress in the early evenings at the recording studio, i.e. from 5 to 8 or 9 pm. I can provide the script of the play; however, the first question is whether one voice over actress can vary her diciton (there is no dialect requirement) to differentiate the ten womens voices in the play. I would be prepared to pay for the actresses voiceover services at a reasonable hourly rate. I do not care about age or the union status of the actress. My office address is in Glendale 91210, Cal. The CD which will result will be given to those who have ordered the book from the publisher, since in this day and age few people are prepared to read poetry for over an hour and a half, but they may very well listen to to the CD, or even perhaps read along. The plot is quite simple: A man comes onto a bare stage and introduces himself as Professor Jesseson. He then introduces his Teaching Assistent, Abby Shumite and between them they explain how the bible story of King David and his many wives should be read. Then the Teaching Assiistant breaks voice and becomes the voice of Shulamite,David's young concubine, and then the man breaks voices and becomes the elderly King David, who is visited in his chambers by each of angry and unhappy wives, who each have their own sonnets to recite until at the end David's own sonnets end, and Shulamite then has a sonnet of her own with which to end the play. The play is a modern and cynical reading of 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 Kings 1 in the Hebrew Bible.
