V.O.—Throughout history, agriculture has been one of the most important industries in the United States. Celebrating yesterday, today and tomorrow, Farm World’s weekly Newspaper has been in the heart of Midwest farming for over 50 years. Built around listening to its readers and advertisers with unmatched customer service, Farm World has created a reputation as THE leader in agricultural news across the Midwest.
V.O.—Founded in 1955 as Eastern Indiana Farmer, Farm World has been long established as the highest circulated agricultural newspaper across the Midwest. With a current paid circulation of over 37,000, the newspaper has created a loyal community of subscribers who rely on its information from week to week.
Founder – Tom Mayhill
V.O.—With almost 70 pages of stories, classifieds, auction ads, and more each week, many farmers have added Farm World to their daily routine. The loyalty of Farm World’s readership proves itself with nearly 40% having subscribed to Farm World for a decade or longer
V.O.—Celebrating the past and present, creating a living history with over 80 dedicated employees, Farm World will continue to be the standard in agricultural publications.
V.O.—Mr. Mayhill, who had already owned and operated The Knightstown Banner, began The Eastern Indiana Farmer on February 15, 1955. At the time, the paper was distributed to nearly 6,000 farmers across 7 different counties in the state of Indiana.
Subscriber –
V.O.—In his first column in the paper, Mayhill said the paper’s focus was to listen to both its readers and advertisers. This is the principle that Farm World’s passionate new owner, DMG world media, also practices to this day.
V.O.—With a strong beginning, The Mayhill family grew Farm World from a local publication into the Midwest’s most circulated weekly farm newspaper.
V.O.—After acquiring Farm World in 2001, DMG revolutionized the paper even further. State-of-the- art desktop publishing computers were installed and the newspaper was introduced to a four color print process. This allowed the paper to maintain its hold on the market while focusing on growing Mayhill’s vision into the next century.
V.O.—From the writers to the design team and the press, Farm World has a staff of caring and dedicated professionals who strive to maintain the quality of excellence set forth before them. With over 40 dedicated correspondents covering agricultural news in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Tennessee, Farm World has a proven team in the field.
Editor – David Blower
V.O.—Every Monday the Farm World staff builds 15-18 pages of classifieds, equipment dealer ads, 7-10 pages of auction sale bills, and approximately 50 news stories. All are professionally packaged and mailed by Tuesday morning so over 37,000 paying subscribers can have the latest farm news available.
Publisher – Richard Lewis
V.O.—Farm World’s sister publications, MarketPlace, Antique Week, The Auction Exchange, and Horseman’s Arena have also been very popular among respective readers. Joining in the success of Farm World, Antique Week is currently the #1 collectibles newspaper in the United States.
V.O.—Farm World Expo is becoming another well recognized asset to the farming community. A place where farmers and vendors can research the latest trends and technology in agriculture. Farm World Expo is a family friendly environment with great entertainment, seminars, demonstrations, and advice. The expo is held once a year and is an important element in the DMG farm show network.
Editor – David Blower
V.O.—The paper’s growth for over half a century is due to listening to its readers and advertisers alike. Providing great content with skilled craftsmanship, the staff continues its legacy in every issue. The way the principles instilled from its beginning, will continue to feed into the paper for the next 50 years.
V.O.—Farm World has grown tremendously since its humble beginning in 1955. From a local publication to its over 37,000 paying subscribers today, Farm World has been a vital and affordable option for farmers across the Midwest, making it a daily routine for thousands.
