…images from the heyday of railroading … Waynoka’s Santa Fe Depot … its Harvey House built in 1910…
…Charles Lindbergh visiting Waynoka … dedication of the TAT airport in June, 1929 …TAT passengers enjoying a meal at the Harvey House … …first, as part of the Santa Fe Mainline from Chicago to LA … complete with a Harvey House restaurant adjacent to the depot…
…later, as part of “the Lindbergh Line” … a coast-to-coast route combining air and rail service that took passengers from East Coast to West in just 48 hours.
…the abandoned TAT airport … runways overtaken by grass and weeds… Faster aircraft soon made the route obsolete. Rail service declined. And Waynoka’s fortunes began to wane.
