WEBSITE REDESIGN
AND COLLATERAL MARKETING PROPOSAL
The Web environment has changed dramatically since your website was built six years ago. These developments necessitate the creation of a new site:
• more consumers are using the Web to shop directly from websites & indirectly as a source of information before purchasing from related retail locations,
• more consumers are Web-savvy, opting for high-speed connections creating a platform and demand for more sophisticated multimedia sites, and
• as a consumer brand, it is important for Caryl Baker to stay current with online marketing trends and developments.
The need to rebuild your website creates an opportunity to make new gains in both your online and salon markets. Implementation of this proposal will accomplish numerous important sales and marketing objectives:
• more online traffic,
• more online sales,
• larger online sales,
• more traffic to your salons,
• more repeat sales for the salons,
• more news media and public relations interest, and
• more interest in franchise opportunities.
Based on the number of visitors you currently attract to your website, you should be generating at least as much revenue from your website as you do from your average franchise store, and the website should be attracting a continuous stream of new customers to your salons. To achieve these goals, we have to create a more informative, more glamorous, more results-oriented site.
RESULTS MARKETING
Our proposal is based on proven cosmetic sales techniques, and an inventive integrated collateral marketing campaign. This more glamorous, state-of-the-art, upgraded, results-oriented website and collateral campaign will achieve the stated marketing objectives, and if properly implemented, create a valuable new revenue source.
At the heart of our new approach is what we have termed "Results Marketing," a technique you already employ in your salons, and a technique we want to extend to your website and to your collateral marketing campaign.
What we mean by "Results Marketing" is simply, sell the results of using Caryl Baker products, not just the products themselves - you are already doing this in your salons when you provide clients with free or reduced price makeovers. This technique makes the product personally relevant to the consumer. Showing clients how good they can look with Caryl Baker products is the best way to sell them.
A PROVEN METHODOLOGY
In order to translate this technique to the Web, we have analyzed how other leading consumer brand cosmetic companies have implemented "results marketing," namely M.A.C and Isabella Rossellini. We are proposing using a combination of the M.A.C and Rossellini Manifesto techniques to create the new Caryl Baker Visage Web environment and integrated collateral campaign.
The current sections will need to be redesigned and the content will need to be modified to fit the new sleeker, more dramatic Web-image, but the most important change is the creation of a new section called 'The Looks'.
ACHIEVING THE LOOKS
Using dramatic video editing techniques, we would show actual before and after results using Caryl Baker products on different women (the pale-skin blond, the average-skin brunette, the fair-skin Redhead, dark-skin Afro-Canadian, and the olive-skin Asian-Canadian) for different occasions (daytime work look and nighttime party look) in conjunction with product bundles ranging in price from $75 to $150. You can reference the M.A.C screen captures for examples.
The before and after results technique would show what can be achieved by using these special Caryl-designed product bundles, and by selling bundles, you increase your average Web-sale per order.
In addition, we would shoot video of Caryl, or a representative, explaining why and how these products and techniques make your clients the best they can be. You can reference the Rossellini Manifesto screen captures and CD for examples.
As mentioned above, we are proposing using video to demonstrate the before and after results. These videos will serve double-duty:
1. high-speed edited versions (45 to 60 seconds), for the Web and
2. full-length versions (15 minutes) for the collateral DVDs.
Each 'Look' would be videoed with complete details, instructions, and tips but only the high-speed and edited versions would be shown on the Web - teasers. The Web-version would show the dramatic results and the product bundles, but for an in-depth explanation, clients would have to go to the salon to purchase the extended DVD version. These extended DVD versions would contain monthly (one per month) coupons with savings far more than the DVD sale price. The coupons would be redeemed at any Caryl Baker Visage Salon.
