With today’s hectic, fast-paced schedules time-pressed families rarely have the opportunity to prepare meals at home on a consistent basis. As a result, restaurant dining is rapidly growing in popularity. Today, restaurant industry sales are a phenomenal $425 billion annually, and are forecasted to reach a staggering $577 billion by 2010.
Likewise, American families are turning to pizza in record numbers. Why? The answers are easy. It's convenient; it’s affordable; and, it has few peers when it comes to taste.
In fact, the demand for pizza is so strong that it has created a phenomenal $30 billion industry in the United States. It is now enjoyed by about 94% of our population, who buy about 3 billion pizzas a year.
Carryout is also increasing in popularity. When pressed for time, many families still want
to enjoy a quality meal . . . but they want it from their favorite full-service restaurant. As a result, carryout now accounts for about 15% of all casual dining traffic, and its growth potential is tremendous.
