Welcome to Enclos. We are proud to welcome you into the Enclos Family. We make it our goal to employ the best-trained, most experienced people in the industry. You are now part of an illustrious group. As you start your first day here, keep in mind the Enclos Mission Statement – “To Enclos the world’s finest buildings, with the world’s finest curtainwalls.” You are now representing one of the oldest and most respected glazing and specialty subcontractors in the United States.
History
The Enclos family is constantly growing and evolving. Enclos was started under the name of Harmon Contract Glazing in 1976, as a two-person office in Minneapolis, MN. Over the following years, the company, which became known as Harmon Ltd., challenged itself to expand and grow its competencies to become the best in the industry.
In 2002 Harmon Ltd. changed its name to Enclos Corp. to better reflect the depth of our expertise and the breadth of the products and services we deliver to our customers.
Enclos’s sister company, Cupples International was started in 1946 as a residential window manufacturer. Cupples provided its first curtainwall, the Woolworth Building in New York City, in 1954.
Cupples and Enclos have provided curtainwall for some of the tallest and most prestigious buildings in the world. We have enclosed 35 of the top 100 tallest buildings in the world. Both companies are owned by CH Holdings USA, Inc., a holding company out of St. Louis MO.
What is Curtainwall?
Depending on what you learned in school, you might be wondering just what curtainwall is. There are a number of definitions, but the technical one is “the non-load bearing exterior skin of a building.” In simpler terms, it is the outside wall of a building.
Where do you fit it?
Enclos is organized into three business units. On the West Coast is Bruce Bornhurst. He and his East Coast counterpart, Kevin LaMay are Vice Presidents. They work with General Managers and Pre-Construction Executives to oversee and sell all of our domestic jobs. Michel Michno is a Vice President out of Minneapolis Headquarters, and he is responsible for Cupples International, Enclos’s sister company. He works with Tom Kretschmer, the Vice President of International Business Development to oversee and secure work in the International market.
Each of the business units has a regional office, satellite offices, and job sites attached to it. Regional offices include Walnut, CA, Chicago, IL, and Brookfield, CT. We also have engineering offices in St. Louis, MO, The Philippines – Manila, and Montreal and Scoudouc, Canada.
Headquarters for Enclos Corp. is Eagan, MN, a Minneapolis/St. Paul suburb. Housed in this building are the administration and support departments, as well as the largest of Enclos’s engineering departments. The following are the “people and departments to know…” E.J. Kelley is the executive Vice President and General Counsel for Enclos. He works closely with Deb Strayer, the Human Resources Director and J.B. Niday the Director of Finance and I.T. Elaine Inman is the Benefits Administrator in Rob Galvin is the head of I.T. Kevin Cole is the Director of Design and Estimating, and Scott Smith is the Estimating Manager. Lee Steffens is the Director of Enclos University and John McElroy is the Director of Engineering. You will also get to know the Accounts Payable Department and the mailroom and supply staff.
How do we sell work?
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Enclos Family. We are sure that you will find working here a pleasant and rewarding experience because we work especially hard to ensure that our employees and their jobs are compatible.
Our progress and growth are the result of each person taking responsibility for a share of the work that needs to be done. As responsibilities increase – so do the rewards. We take pride in our accomplishments, and I am sure that you will too. Remember – vision plus people, equals excellence. I look forward to meeting you. Enjoy your first day.
