Thank you for calling Top Stars Promoters you have been sent to this call by responding to one of our ads. Our ads were designed to attract bright sharp people with the desire and drive to succeed in this field. Since we don’t require experience we will work with you to develop a business plan that will best fit your goals and needs. We have six levels or positions in our company. When I use the term levels I am referring to the point you become involved, entry level and higher. Our first level is a booker. Some companies refer to this as a telephone sales rep. Your job is to contact bars, nightclubs, cruise ships, resorts, casinos, anywhere that could use live entertainment. You would be placing the artists in the various venues. Most of the time you will come across people who want entertainment such as a bar in your local area. Most of these smaller venues work on a smaller budget like $500-1000. While we do have artists like this and we do try to work with any budget, when prospecting is not as difficult as you think because you will not be cold calling and working will people who are in the need for this service. Never use high pressure closings. Simply tell your prospect you need only a few minutes of their time. Fill out what we call a proposal sheet. This gathers info such as the type of music liked, their age range, budget they are looking to spend, the capacity of the location, etc. After completing the form, tell them you want to send them a proposal package at no cost or obligation to them. This package contains up to four artists. We feel this meets your needs. This contains a photo, along with a CD, so the venue owners can see how they will fit into their needs. You can also request information on specific artists or bands you may be interested in. Remember that these are all professional artists. While some in the lower price range will be less known all are signed artists on independent labels. We do not set prices for the artists this is done thru their management based on several factors, like: distance traveled, price of gas, number of trucks or buses needed to carry equipment and the artists. A detailed posting of this topic can be found on our website, www.aimingforthestars.com. While this level is the smallest investment with a low rate of return many of our associates like this because it is not limited to one type of group as several other offers are plus it gives you a chance to get comfortable with working with people on the phone. The investment at this level is $99.00, which will be charged back from profits, no upfront investment needed. This includes telemarketing scripts and closing techniques. Once again be careful of the “do not call list”. At the time of this recording it is still legal to call on other businesses, but to avoid a fine of $11,000 per complaint, it’s wise to first send an email or postcard saying you will be calling them. Give enough information so they will know what you are talking about but not enough that they could make up their minds before you call. Once again the investment at this level is 99.00 and you will receive a 5% commission. After 2-3 weeks of making 5-10 calls per day, if you feel comfortable and working with people, we will promote you directly up to project manager. The main reason for having you start at level 1 is to get used to dealing with people, handling objections and so forth. It doesn’t matter if you blow through a lot of people, because to be honest with you, at this level there is a very low response rate. Level 2 is a project manager this is the area we specialize in. Our project managers work in our fundraisers department raising funds for high schools, college, as well as non-profit organizations and charities. As I’m sure you know, there have been a lot of cutbacks in the schools. One way to raise funds is to do live music events. If you have ever been to a concert and I know you have, then you know about sponsors, businesses or companies that invest in shows for various benefits. Once again the info on this can be found on our website, www.aimingforthestars.com. We also put together a souvenir book where local businesses can run ads to show their support for the school or various causes, which promotes a good market image for the companies. The books are an attractive 8 ½ by 11 and ad rates are $100 for ¼ page, $150 for ½ page and $250 for whole page. The sponsor’s fees are higher but they come with extra benefits. We keep it down to 3-5 companies for sponsors, and if your company wants to be the exclusive sponsor that is also available at an additional rate. We use 10 teachers or organization members; we suggest using adults or college students, or even high school students working on a work-study program making money for college. To find out about work-study programs, contact local high schools. Each member sells only four pages which make for forty pages. We use this number because it is good for us, but the number can be made in groups of four: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 40 pages plus. The price range for pages varies in price from 250 to 400 depending on the sizes of the ads, times 40 pages, makes for a price range of $10,000-15,000. It is also a good idea to hire a writer and a photographer who can write articles about the artists and provide photos. This way you can sell them vs. give them away. When someone gets a book like this, that contains only ads, they will almost always junk them, but if they paid for them they will probably keep them. It is not needed to sell them as all money from ads to cover the costs so price them reasonably. The books cost between $2,500 and $3,000 to run 1000 copies. While the best choice you will soon see is to use an outside venue. The high school can also use the gym. While this keeps costs low, it also limits the potential revenue. For example, the average gym can hold 1000 at $30 per seat for a total of $30,000. While an outside venue usually hold double, 2000-2500 seats and the price for the seats can be changed based on the location of seats and advance purchase or at door, for a price range of $60,000-100,000. The artist depending, on whom you use and other factors described earlier, will charge an estimate of $5,000-10,000, at most $15,000. If the school used the gym, the expenses would be the price of the band only, and could make up to $25,000 before expenses. While the outside venue costs about $5,000-$7,000 for the night, which would make for profit of upwards for $60,000. So you can see which the better choice is. We also leave the option open to you if you would like to market hats, shirts, etc. We have contacts for these items and would be happy to refer you to them. The venue and the artists require a 50% deposit up front and the balance after. If the schools or organizations put up the money, they will receive the largest amount 50%, the project manager 10%, and 40% to the company. It is best to keep family oriented artists versus, who the students like, because you want to draw in the family members and outside adults, besides just the students. Important here, never promise a particular artists until the contact is signed. This process can take several weeks because of the negotiations and so forth. You can start selling ads and booking sponsors, by telling them your school organization is running a live fundraising event, you can tell them the type of music being used. If they don’t feel comfortable, you can always refer them to our web address and let them email us or contact by phone to confirm that you are working with us. Again the website is www.aimingforthestars.com and the phone number is 888-232-2536. Pay attention for a secret here. Level 3 is independent project manager. This is exactly the same as level 2, but if the school or other organizations is limited in funding, there are several options. You can participant in our co-op marketing promotions. We use several of our people who are far enough apart to not cause competition, and book multiple shows which would keep the costs down, because the artists is doing several shows in the local area. The pitfalls of this are you cannot choose who you will get or when. Another option, as stated in the bookers section, is working with proposal sheets since many venues and artists schedule in advance for various reasons. You can begin my selling ads in the souvenir books, as well as locating potential sponsors. Again, don’t promise a certain artist but it is ok to represent the type. After selling a portion of the book, we can invest this money back into the costs of artists/ venues. The average show can be put together in 6-8 weeks. Allow enough time for raising funds. We’ll try to work in a 3-4 month time range. The school or organization receives less money because they didn’t invest in the promotion, the exact figure is negotiable. Since there is no extra work on your part, at this level, the amount you gain is the same, and you will not be required to invest any extra. The amount of time it takes to work on this type of project is about 3-5 hours a week, meeting with or phoning the people selling space, handling problems, collecting funds for project as required. As you can see, in Level 3 it is possible to run the promotion without an upfront investment. You may ask why it is required in Level 2, this is to cover fixed expense. Also while doing this on a local level, we allowed for an hourly salary for the project managers from this fund. The amount is negotiable based on experience in sales, customer service, marketing and advertising, however no experience is necessary. Where level 2 pays an hourly wage, working on Level 3, since there is no upfront funding, you will receive a higher commission. Important here: you must give the option to invest in the program; you may not just collect the higher commission without giving the school or organization a chance to invest. Level 4, is what we call a co-promotional show at this level an investment is required. Basically, we go partners, but since there is no school or organization and we don’t sell souvenir books, it is necessary to invest 50% upfront and the balance at the end. I said we go partners but since there is no school or organization to receive the other 10%, I’ll give it to you, so in fact it’s a 60-40 deal. The investment at this level can run from $15,000-25,000. Level 5 is a major concert promoter, doing a major show, with a major artist, in a major venue such as a concert hall or stadium. An investment at this level is high but if you reinvested the capital gained from the previous levels, you should have no problem funding this type of venue. The investment for something like this can run upwards of $100,000 or better, but the venues hold 5,000-10,000 seats, or better and we split 50/50. Our final level is level 6, independent concert promoter. Again, the name speaks for itself. Once you have done a show on level 5, and feel comfortable, instead of splitting with me 50/50, we will only charge a small commission fee from you and let you work on your own, because by this point I’m sure you know exactly what you are doing, and you’ll probably want to the independence receive maximum return. If you have more questions, or want to get started, the best way to reach us is at 888-232-2536 and leave a message. There are 100 available extensions, if one is full, go to the next by choosing the next available number. For example, if box 01 is full, go to box 02, and so on, and please leave a message. We’re looking forward to working with you.
