Project Main Details
Italian-speaking voiceover artists for development of synthetic
Italian voices. A synthetic voice is a unique addition to the
portfolio of a voiceover artist; at the end of the project, you will
be given a license to software that can convert any text into speech -
in your own voice!
The initial voice job will involve reading 250 sentences in a variety of
genres to serve as the model of the synthetic voice. The 28 demo
sentences that we are requesting below are designed to give us a
sense of which voices are most compatible with our technology.
We need this number of sentences in order to evaluate how well
voices respond to synthetic modeling.
Several voice over artists will then be invited for the paid 250-sentence screen
test, with potential for a longer-term relationship which could
involve initial large-scale recording as well as ongoing work.
Please provide a quote for 250 sentences.
We will also be evaluating characteristics of the audio environment.
For our use in building synthetic voices, it is important that
sentences are delivered in a consistent prosodic style. Delivery
should be limited in inflectional range. All sentences should follow
the same intonational pattern, with a slight drop at the end. The
idea is not to make the sentences interesting, but rather to make them
consistent. Overarticulation should be avoided; words should flow
together naturally. In contrast with word splicing, our technology
requires that model sentences be delivered fluidly, without unnatural
pauses or intonational jumps.
For the demo script we have selected the topic of time annunciation.
You will be communicating information, conveying reliability without
being authoritative. We are not looking for a particular age or
persona, but rather a voice of broad appeal that listeners will
respond well to over a long period of time.
