Truman Dam Script
This is the Powerhouse of the Harry S. Truman
Dam and Reservoir.
Inside are six turbine-generators capable of producing160,000 kilowatts of electricity. Usually these generators are activated when conventional power plants cannot meet public demand or flood storage water is being released.
Bringing Truman's generators on line begins with a phone call from the Southwestern Power Administration’s Dispatch Office in Springfield, Missiouri to the Powerhouse's Control Room. Here workers can also remotely operate many other power plants throughout Missouri.
