SENATOR: "Yes, Simmons. We're going to nail those SUV owners to the wall."
AIDE: "Not sure that's a good idea sir…"
SENATOR: "Why not Simmons? SUVs are life-threatening, gas guzzling, wildlife killing, and completely unnecessary."
AIDE: "Uh, no sir. The statistics don't support that at all."
SENATOR: "Whattaya mean? Our stats say whatever I want them to say!"
AIDE: "Well, sir. SUVs are actually remarkably clean. They get much better gas mileage than even cars used to. It's all in the research we gave you."
SENATOR: "Why, haven't you seen the newspapers? Those monster SUVs are dangerous."
AIDE: "No, sir. Actually, the data shows that large SUVs are among the safest vehicles on the road – and getting even safer every year. Senator, we’re riding in Yours!"
SENATOR: "Well…that's different. You just leave it to me, son, this is Washington, and our friends need us to beat up on SUVs. We call it 'making policy.' That's how you’ll keep your job!"
