The dog voice we hear is the imagined internal monologue of the dog. The voice should avoid be cartoony or otherwise broad. It could be male or female. In either case, it must be differentiated from the dog lover’s voice. Think about Jerry Seinfeld doing a bit about imagining what his dog is thinking. The voice is lively. The attitude is fun-loving and friendly but not over-the-top goofy.
