10 yo Female Voice Needed for Educational Videos
We are putting together a casting call to find two voice actors for work that we will be shooting between Sept 20 and early December for a series of educational math-focused videos. The voice actors needed would be auditioning for the parts of two young students around 10 years old, one male and one female. They would be interacting in session with an on-camera performer and providing live-dialogue voiceover interaction for the two computer-animated students in the finished videos. I need people who can be convincing grade-school students; curious, precocious, and engaged, without sounding like a know-it-all or coming across as condescending.

The turnaround on this is, unfortunately, extremely tight. I need voiceover samples/reels by Thursday or Friday morning at the latest, and the casting session would be this coming Monday at 10am, for a series of recording dates TBD, spread out over the next several months. This means that the actor would need to be NY-based, with reliable availability to schedule shoot dates through mid-December. Each shoot date will be approximately one full working day and will pay $500 for the day's work. We expect to have somewhere between 7 and 9 recording sessions between now and mid-December, each paying that day rate. The character that you would be playing would be consistent across all of these shoot dates.

Thanks so much, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Script Details

*****custom demo NOT required

If you are able to record the following script before the deadline on Friday the 13th at 10am, please do so. If you are not able to record the following script, it will not hurt your chances of being called in for the audition; we just need to hear a demo that shows your ability to come across as a convincing 10-year old matching the description above. You should read for the part of Jamie. Thanks so much!

Teacher: Jamie, let’s hear your addition sentence.
Jamie: Here it is! [Jamie’s equation appears on the board as she says each part] 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2
Teacher: And how many 2s is that?
Jamie: 6 twos.
Teacher: What’s the end to your addition sentence?
Jamie: You need the equal sign and 12, [‘= 12’ appears] because 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 is worth the same as 12!
Teacher: Good, 6 twos is 12. [‘6 twos is 12’ appears] These number sentences are saying the same thing as the picture. Number sentences can also be called equations. Great! These are all different ways to show 6 groups of 2. It’s like when I say “Hi!’ to one friend, and “Hello!” to another. They’re different ways of saying the same thing.
Jamie: You could also say, “Hey!”
Teacher: Exactly! Let’s add one more equation to our board. [‘6 x 2 = 12’ appears] How do you think this equation [‘6 x 2 = 12’ is highlighted] is related to the other equations? (pause) What’s up, you guys?
Jamie: We’re not sure what the x means in that equation. [‘x’ symbol in 6 x 2 = 12 highlights]
Teacher: I’m so glad you noticed that! When we read this equation, we say ‘six times two equals 12.’ [‘6 times 2 = 12’ appears] That ‘x’ [‘x’ symbol highlights] isn’t really the letter x. It’s actually the symbol for multiplication [‘multiplication appears]. It’s read as ‘times’ [the word ‘times’ highlights]. We can think of it as ‘groups of’.
Jamie: So 6 groups of 2 equals 12. [‘6 groups of 2 is 12’ appears]
Teacher: That’s it. Let me ask you something. Since these all mean the same thing, which equation would be faster and easier to write? Jamie, what do you think?
Jamie: I think 6 x 2 = 12 is faster and easier to build; it took longer to write out all those twos.
Teacher: Let’s see if it’s the same for me.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
