Voice Description
My voice is controllably variable, and I have the ability to recall a character voice quite readily. For narrations, I can make my voice rich, smooth, and warm - the classic announcer tone, or a more contemporary conversational tone. Character voices are fun to develop and maintain, and I can modulate my voice to sound like a wide array of characters, both younger and older than myself. My natural accent is Midwest-American, often considered the most neutral and comprehensible of English dialects.
I am an avid reader, and can pronounce most English words perfectly during a cold read. I've taken six years of German, and can read German-language scripts with only a slight Bavarian accent.

My Voice Experience
Most of my experience comes through the venues of Audio Theatre (nee radio drama) and radio spot production. I have performed, produced, and directed podcast episodes of many different types of audio theatre pieces over the past five years, ranging from being the announcer voice on the promotional spots to being characters, both major and minor. Specific characters included an Irish farmer, irate New York cabbie, one of the Players in Shakespeare's Hamlet, and many, many fairy-tale characters, ranging from the Frog Prince to Frau Holle
I also worked as production director for WMHW-FM, wherein I was the radio voice over coach and primary voice talent. Other recent work has included recording voice mail greetings, advising fellow podcasters, and teaching beginning audio production.
Recently, I have worked with Bill Dufris (the voice of Bob the Builder), Paul Ruben (an audio book director) and Simon Jones ("Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy") at the National Audio Theatre Festivals Audio Theatre Workshop. I also had the opportunity to work with Jeffrey Hedquist, a national voice actor and producer from Iowa.
My Training
I hold an MA in Electronic Media Management, a B.S. in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, and have had training in voice acting from a number of workshops from the National Association of Broadcasters, the Broadcast Educators Association, and the National Audio Theatre Festivals. I've given talks on podcasting to the BEA, Collegiate Broadcasters Incorporated, and the National Broadcaster's Society.
