Great piece of advice I heard many years ago. I smile a lot when I read. The work I've done usually requires an upbeat, youthful, melodic lilt for attention-grabbing promos.

My voice is pleasant, soothing, engaging. My pronunciation and grammar are excellent, with crisp, clear speech (unusual, unfamiliar, or foreign words or names may require some direction).

When copy requires a more serious, dryly professional tone, I've delivered.

I can also wrap a sexy, teasing veil on the right message, or encase it in authoritative ice (ouch!).

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Rhode Islanders are notorious for dropping Rs from where they belong, and adding Rs where they don't: "I gotin idear: let's go fuh-uh ride in the cah!" Not completely natural (thankfully), but I can pull it off if needed. : )

As a speaker of Portuguese, I can naturally and correctly pronounce Romance language words (French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish).

My Voice Experience

I work at WSBE-DT in Providence and, for the past 6 years, I have voiced :15 underwriting (sponsor) credits, as well as a number of :30 - 1:00 promos.

Besides having a nice voice, one of the most valuable skills I've been told I have is the ability squeeze in a little extra copy (or slow it down) to fit the time limit, without loss of energy, enthusiasm, or clarity.

My Training

I did community theater for years, including some singing (high soprano at my best). I have an artistic eye and ear, and a flair for drama and timing. Intuitive and creative, I am self-taught, basically! We do exist.

My Studio Equipment

Depending on the project, I can arrange to use the TV station's audio recording facilities.

Additional Skills

A writer and copywriter by trade, I can tweak copy (or suggest tweaks) for easier readability and improved sentence structure for clearer messaging. I write most of the copy for the station's on-air promos, and would be happy to provide that service to you if you need it.
