Voice Description

I am a professional singer; I am a trained opera singer (mezzo-soprano/dramatic-soprano), but I am also a jazz singer, a pop singer covering anything from 1920's to today, and I also sing with a metal/opera band. I have a naturally warm, velvety voice which is very flexible and can be pitched higher or lower, on demand. My voicemail is always interesting; I like to diversify the styles, using as wide a range to amuse friends and seduce business partners.

I can do a wide range from funny, sexy, to smooth, airport, emotional, hysterical, and also cater to professional business presentations.

I can sing lullabies, read children's stories as the mother, the child or the witch; I also have a great B-movie scream!

I am Canadian, born of a French mother and an English father. I am a native speaker of middle and upper-class North-American English, and French. In addition to Standard NAE, as a voice actor, I can speak with Boston, New York, Montreal accents as well as a French speaker trying to speak "the henglish". I can do High-class, intellectual, working-class, etc.

I speak different forms of French as well, mainly International Standard French, Franco-Belgian, "high" and "low"Québecois. I can also speak French with an English accent.

As I have been living in Germany for the last 5 years, I can read and speak German fluently, with a French accent.
When singing, the possibilities are endless. In addition to singing in French and English, I can sing in all of the European languages, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, Czech, Russian, and also Yiddish and Hebrew.

I have lots of recording-studio experience, CDs, commercials, voice-overs, vocal sound effects, even singing as a tenor and as a baritone.

I have given numerous Radio/TV interviews, because of the smoothness, clarity and strength of my voice.

My Voice Experience

For 20 years, I have sung as a chorister on all of the studio and live TV/Radio recordings of the Montréal Symphony orchestra. I have also sung as a soloist on many of these recordings, one of which (Berlioz' Les Troyens)won a Grammy award.

I have also sung with SMAM (Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal) for 10 years and hae appeared on most of their recordings and radio/tv live and recorded broadcasts.

In addition, I have sung with the Tudor's Singers of Montréal and other smaller ensembles, with all of whom I have recorded.

I hosted a Nation-wide live radio broadcast from Montréal's Christ Church Cathedral for 5 years.

I have hosted numerous live concerts and galas in Québec.
Although not of Jewish faith, I was the alto/mezzo-soprano soloist in a Synagogue for 7 years. I also have some experience as a cantor.

I have also sung in churches and temples of all confessions for services and special events (weddings, funerals, etc.)

I have sung everything from Medieval chant to contemporary music, Renaissance and Baroque music. I have performed in all styles of Classical music, Romantic, Opera, Operetta, on stages worldwide, in recital and in the studio.

I have participated in many projects, voicing characters for student films starting in my university days.

I have sung in diverse radio and TV commercials for McDonalds, VW, Ford, Chrysler, Bell Canada, etc.

I have given seminars to singers and actors on how to project their voice, while preserving their instrument; I have rehearsal-coached actors and singers, privately upon referral.

I have taught English and French to German business people, (Airbus, EADS, Siemens, RDE, swb, Bundeswehr, Kraft, Becks/imbev, etc) especially in how to speak with little or no accent, and choosing a British or American vocabulary.

I have written and performed text and music for plays, independant movies and dance shows.

My Training

My training is two-fold: University-trained and on-the-spot learning. I have a Bachelor's degree in voice performance from Concordia University (Montréal). I am 4 credits-shy of an Artist Diploma in Opera from McGill University, which I had to postpone because of contractual obligations, and a job-related move to Europe.

A member and chapter-secretary of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) I have taught voice to thousands of music students, amateur and professional singers and actors, in seminars, weekend workshops, weekly lessons at my voice studio, as a college and university voice teacher and as a consultant for theater companies as well as commercial businesses.

I have been self-employed for most of my adult life, and have had, through the many opportunities I've created for myself, and have been offered, an exciting, diversified, far-from-boring career with my voice and related talents.

I am very enthusiastic about the projects I accept, and give them my full care and attention.

I am rarely at a loss for words, which in my business, is primordial ;-))
