My Voice Experience

My then 20 year old voice got me my first job at KOAK AM in Red Oak, Iowa. This station was so weak (as was my voice) that many people in the little town had not heard of it. My employment improved as my voice matured and I went on to work in television news around the country. I now do voice work for Solutia, a big chemical company based in St Louis, and I do voice and on camera projects for the northwest Florida PBS station.

My Training

B.A. journalism, Drake University, Des Moines. Radio and television work in Des Moines, Tucson, Louisville, Greensboro NC and San Francisco. Specialized instruction from media consultants in Louisville and San Francisco.
I am AFTRA, Honorable Withdrawal status, and could be considered for AFTRA work.

My Studio Equipment

I used Cool Edit Pro with a nice Samson USB studio condenser. I have easy access to the professional recording facilities at Rex Studio in Pace, FL.

Additional Skills

I can also do on-camera projects and I am comfortable using a tele-prompter or audio prompt or simply ad libbing. We (my wife and I) work with preschool children every day and I have developed a skill at ad libbing stories that draw each child into the little drama. I have also hosted and moderated live and recorded town meetings on local issues.
