I host a public affairs show on KMOJ Radio, stationed in Minneapolis, MN. KMOJ is the only black radio station in the state, and ‘Urban Agenda’ is its only public affairs show, with an average of 200,000 listeners weekly, including from countries like China and Australia. We seek to openly discuss and debate issues and policies that are confronting the safety and health of the urban black community. We use a blend of black history, a mix of current events, and guests such as Walter Mosley to promote critical thinking and to engage our listeners politically, remaining bipartisan.
I record commercial radio spots at customers' request.
I moderate political debates for local and state government races, projecting calm and order using my voice, inflection, enunciation and tone.
I have narrated informal videos and family stories for others.
I most recently served as Executive Director of African American Family Services from 2002 – 2011. I hold a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Minnesota State University at Mankato, and is an organizational development consultant and executive coach.
I am Chair of the Urban Women’s Movement (UWM). The mission of UWM seeks to engage urban women in the political process through education and support, to help them to navigate the social, economic and political landscape through grassroots advocacy. UWM believes that “urban women either shape the ballot or they are forced to respond to it.”
I am also the host of the weekly public affairs call-in show, ‘Urban Agenda’ which airs on KMOJ radio on Thursdays.
As another part of my work in community, I also write a twice-monthly column titled ‘Voices of the Village’ for the MN Spokesman-Recorder newspaper, the oldest black newspaper in Minneapolis.
I do not have my own studio, but will travel to meet the needs of the customer.
I am trained as an Executive, I am committed to quality work, to meeting deadlines and to working for customer satisfaction the first time. I believe that my voice is adaptable in style and I am excited to see the range of work we can create!
