Voice Description

People usually comment that I am very articulate. I was born in Jamaica but have lived in the United States most of my life. My speaking style is refined with a touch of an "Americanized" Queen's English. My voice is well-suited for documentary work and has a smooth, comforting, and inviting style.

I have been a vocalist and songwriter for fifteen years and have many hours of studio experience. Though my voice is characteristically neutral, I can assume a higher-pitched vocal styling that represents a more youthful character and also can assume some regional drawls.

I was a corporate trainer and Human Resource representative and am also well-suited to perform voice work for corporate projects. I have been doing voice-over telephone work for my employer, a $2+ billion multi-national software company, for six years.

I can also do upbeat, energetic voices characteristic of television and radio adverts.

My Voice Experience

I have listened to NPR radio for many years and have aligned my voice to the styling of the correspondents.

I've produced and released two albums over the past fifteen years and am in process of recording a third. I am currently receiving radio play in Jamaica for an original song written by my music partner and I on the station Zip FM. It is heavily requested and is titled, Haunting Force.

My Training

I studied violin in middle and high schools. I taught myself to play piano as a child and acoustic guitar when I was fourteen years old, and I have been singing ever since (24 years). My undergraduate degree is in Mass Communication, which included required courses in public speaking, radio and television production, and composition.

I have played large music festivals like Sunfest, in West Palm Beach, on three occasions, most recently opening for Todd Rundgren and Stephen Stills, as well as the Florida Music Festival in Orlando. I have also played many smaller gigs in Florida from South Beach to Tampa/Orlando area.

Additional Skills

I have performed in musical theatre in a temporary developmental project under legendary producer, Steve Leber. I have also performed under the direction of K.D. Smith, protégé of the late Michael Bennett. I have worked in the technology industry for the past fourteen years in Human Resources and presently, in IT Operations.

I was a guest lecturer to graduate students at a regional campus for an international university. I also give presentations regularly at work to domestic and international audiences (in-person and/or by using GoToMeeting* technology, my employer's product).
