Voice Description
My voice can span a range from deep and serious for story narrations, to fun and spirited for commercial work, straight forward and business style for training videos and presentations. And southern, silly, child-like, or disturbed. I believe I have tried them all at one point in time or another.

My Voice Experience
My voice over work started in a small town in Arkansas, don't ask how I got there, point is I was there. So, I did a few things for a production company in the area. Nothing big, but they gave me a lot of complements so I guess that says something. I started out doing a pretty long job voicing the training program for J.B. Hunt drivers. After that, I did voice work for Armitron watches. It was also a training video for the employees to familiarize themselves with new products coming into the store. I did odds and ends with them until I continued my journalism career.....see below thanks!
My Training
Really, I think this all started in college. I graduated with a degree in broadcasting, wanting to go into radio (how times have changed there). The DJs mentioned the strength of my voice and so I kept that in mind as radio turned to television news and it was during the creation of my demo tape, that I truly started tweeking my voice. I practiced flow, octave levels, etc. as well as simply how to speak into a microphone. Really, during my internships, I had many opportunities to practice, and a lot of help from some great people along the way. Oh, and I did some singing in Arkansas.

Additional Skills
My career, at least in voice work, is sporadic, mainly due to not really thinking I could do this as a career. Age and research had told me different. From announcing sports scores over the PA system in high school, to radio and tv experience in college, to voice over work after college, it seems to always be near. My move to education and teaching young children has also given me another voice element. One of softness but lined with directness as well. I found with this career, my voice seemed to be "heard" over others, seemingly more respected and listened to more often. Interesting how children relate and react to different voices. What a learning experience.
