My Voice Experience
My experience as a voice over artist is ever changing, always on the move, stealthily morphing into new things and always creating new experiences. I have to stay on my toes, stay focused, because I never know what will be around the next corner. A smooth narrator morphs into a blood elf, hardened from war and seeking new recruits. A peppy sorority girl suddenly becomes the tomboy, ready to cause trouble. One moment you could hearing a confident heroine, and the next you might hear soft-spoken wallflower. The road ahead is always just out of sight, but for me as a voice actor, that unknown is an adventure I am more than willing to take.
My Training
Crispin Freeman
I have taken a few of Crispin's classes and plan on taking more. One class focused on finding the ideal character archetype that's best suited for my voice. This will help me better place myself vocally when reading through audition opportunities. Another class focused on Anime Dub Voice Overs, giving students a chance to practice matching to picture while still giving a quality performance.
MJ Lallo
MJ Lallo gave me my building blocks for voice over. I have taken her beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, all of which have strengthened my skill as a voice actor. I got a chance to try a variety of copy and methods and was able to play and discover just what my voice could do.
Oklahoma City University - BFA in Acting
--voice acting workshop with a teacher in the department
--voice and dialect class, learning how to relax and free the voice, with the help of phonetic pillows. This class also taught me the basics of learning dialects, through ear training and the phonetic alphabet.
--voice lessons for all 3 and a half years before I graduated helped keep my voice in top condition for singing and projecting
--Alpha Chi Omega sorority offered opportunities for voice acting each fall with the annual Lip Sync competition. No group was allowed to speak out loud, so scripts were written, voice overs recorded, and performances were built around the finished recording.
Voice Acting Alliance
--An online amateur voice acting community I have been a member of for two years. This is where I first got seriously interested in voice acting. I have been involved in many song dubs, a few radio plays, and an original narration for an online project. While these projects are amateur projects, they are a great way to practice and offer many opportunities to stretch my voice over skills.
My Studio Equipment
GarageBand for Macintosh, Quality microphone from Shure Digital, recording earphones, MacBook Pro (2012)
Additional Skills
I have almost 10 years of vocal training and experience and am classified as a Soprano with a Belt. I have experience singing in various choirs and can learn harmony very quickly. I read music and play Ukulele and Guitar.
