My Voice Experience
ODE TO MY VOICE
Well my voiceover experience is short,
When then I started to think,
No, Lesley, your voice is quite versatile,
From sober rationality to one
Who's had a few too many to drink.
It really started at school,
To mention it, not really cool,
I was always chosen for a play,
For a voice I projected and relayed,
With serious charm, then jokingly, then calm.
I was told during debating,
I was quite sedating,
Easy listening,
But then quite jolly,
Getting roars of laughter and lots of whistling.
Then when I was grown,
From the nest I had flown,
Onto BBC Radio to co-present
A factual programme,
Authorative, informative and meant.
Then there was the time,
On Radio at University,
My voice early morning laughter and a joke,
Projecting a feeling that students should
Have already awoke.
Crowded lectures I would give,
And Seminars I would portray,
The same informative, educational content,
Without any stops or delay.
Then onto the Contact Centre,
Taking bets on the phone,
Using specified call scripts,
A voice that was agreeable and would condone.
I spoke with feeling and passion,
With all that I could give,
Talking through the phone,
Expressing memories to relive.
Then onto something more intimate,
A Chatline Operator was I,
I spoke sexy and seductive,
All very believable,
To make callers happy,
And give out a joyous cry.
So now my story's over,
Relayed my experience I've now done,
Referred to do this by my lover
Because with my voice, his heart, I won.
