The key to narration is understanding and then interpreting. A "pro" sounding voice in itself won't hold a listener's attention, because intelligence capable of appreciating great depth is also capable of detecting insincere motion. Every word in a poem has purpose. Other literature is the same but less condensed. A good reader should understand what they say on many levels and strive to relate the point with ease.
