My Voice Experience

In my over 25 year career I have been a highly rated announcer at radio stations in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington DC and with XM Satellite Radio. These stations pursued several different radio formats: Urban, Churban, Adult Contemporary, Urban Adult Contemporay, Jazz, Rock and Dance. Each format had its own style of presentation. The Smooth Jazz format (Smooth Jazz WJZW-FM 105.9 Washington DC) was sophisticated, the adult contemporary (WPIX-FM New York) format delivery was targeted to women 25 to 36, and in the Urban format (WUSL-FM/Power 99 Philadelphia) the targeted audience appeal was to young African Americans. While on the air at XM Satellite Radio, the channel Soul Street played classic soul music and the audience focus was towards mature and predominantly African Americans. My delivery was targeted to the audience to which I was broadcasting. Also, during my tenure at XM, my voice was used on the general market instructional CDs that were placed in new GM cars that explained how to use XM Satellite Radio equipment.

Additional Skills

Having been a major market radio personality for several years, I have voiced spots for a long list of brand name clients and was in high demand as a voice talent. I love radio because it is theater of the mind because it is an intimate medium with a one on one connection with the audience. On XM Satellite Radio, I developed a program called “The Penthouse” on the Soul Street Channel where the audience believed they were guests in my home, listening to relaxing classic soul music while enjoying the view of the penthouse and sipping wine on the balcony. It was so convincing that I received several letters from listeners who actually thought the "Penthouse" was a real place when in reality it was just a studio with a microphone, computer screens and my imagination. I look forward to employing that imagination on behalf of my clients when it may be of value.

I was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Long Island and no matter how many voice and articulation classes I took at Emerson College, whenever I am in New York hanging out with friends and family, I slip back into my New Yawk accent with all it's glory.
