My Voice Experience
I had been told for my entire adult life that I belonged on the radio. I worked in the music business for years and finally agreed to give it a shot. I began by doing occasional radio spots and gradually stepped up to doing regional television. This was mostly part time while working full time in the IT field and taking college courses. I began doing podcasts for a major University, and completed a Master's in Instructional Design & Technology.
I started developing educational courseware for a University Computer Science Department and that has been very highly acclaimed by students. As that work continued, I was also picked up by the School of Journalism at the same institution to create podcast lectures for an online Master's program.
I am presently working towards a Doctorate in Education and continue to voice TV and radio commercials regularly, as well as continuing to develop and voice instructional materials for multiple University departments.
I love doing this kind of work and look forward to any new opportunities in areas I have worked, as well as those I have not yet had the opportunity to do so.
My Training
I have worked with a number of producers, including a Grammy winner. I am generally able to anticipate exactly what the client needs and always seek to exceed expectations.
I have a B.A. from West Virginia University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA
I have a Master's in Instructional Design & Technology and completed this with a 4.0 GPA
I am presently working towards a Doctorate in Instruction Design & Technology.
I have an Associate of Science in Computer Information Management from the International Academy of Design & Technology (Computer Tech).
I have done research projects pertaining to putting traditional classroom course materials into online formats, and have done so with multiple courses using audio and video.
I voice online Master's courses for a University school of Journalism program that caters to integrated marketing communications.
My Studio Equipment
My studio uses Digidesign hardware and software. I run a Mac Pro system with ProTools. In addition to ProTools, I also use a variety of plug-ins and other production software such as Techsmith Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, and numerous others.
I use Rode brand microphones and have a range of musical equipment as well. I use Paul Reed Smith American guitars, ESP Custom Shop guitars, Line 6 guitar amplification and signal processing, Galliean-Krueger bass amplification with Warwick basses, and Mogami cabling for noise-free sound.
I working in a music store for five years selling guitars, pro audio, and recording gear. This is where I learned about equipment and how to make magic happen.
Additional Skills
In addition to a number of formal degrees and experience in the music business, I am also a University faculty member, a Professional Technologist for a University working full time in Information Technology, and have great communications skills.
The best experience I have had to date in terms of learning people skills and communications was being a professional bartender.
In the voice-over world, my job is the get the message across in style, and in a way that people can relate to that accurately conveys the client's message and a positive and memorable context.
