At least 6 people a day tell me I should be on the radio, old girlfriends call just to hear me say hello.
Hi, all through my life people have told me what a nice voice I have. I have a naturally seductive, very masculine voice that is soothing & pleasant to hear. Although both men and women compliment me, women are impressed in a more profound way.
And while my voice-over professional experience has, so far, been limited to commercials and live on-air promotions for different car dealerships, I have quite a bit of speaking experience.
As a writer, I often read my works to groups in venues like busy, noisy bookstores. When I pause and look at the audience I will always see that some people have their eyes closed with a smile on their faces, transported away to another world. "I'm only 23 and I've only lived around here," said a young woman recently, "but for the last twenty minutes I was in Baltimore in 1953 - and I didn't want to leave! I could listen to you all night."
My voice is distinctive enough that, having moved to a different car dealership (and doing their radio ads) I had an old customer pull in saying he'd heard me on the radio and had sought out the new dealership to buy a car from me.
I am accustomed to speaking to groups. As president of my homeowners association I have had to address the Durham City Council & the Durham City Planning Commission. I have been president of the local Toastmasters & I have run meetings for years and won a variety of trophies and awards.
As the spokesperson for a home-builder & the on-site Realtor for a local development, I have lectured at Realty Companies and taught a class in construction careers for the Durham Schools.
Early in my automotive sale career I went to the National Finals for the Chevrolet 'walk-around presentation' competition.
Professional, smooth and competent - I always deliver the goods.
High-school - A Jesuit Prep School where 'elocution' was a required class and study of the classics (in Latin & English) was required. Edited school literary magazine & wrote for school newspaper.
College - At West Virginia University. During my college days I did the coffee house circuit as a singer/songwriter in the folk genre.
Work experience - I have been a Steelworker & a Teamster & a carpenter for the Canton Railroad.
I have sold electric lighting (consultant), appliances, industrial solvents, automobiles & real estate. In the car business I have been a salesman, sales manager, finance manager & leasing manager.
I have been president of my local Toastmasters, president of my homeowners association; was selling agent of the year (real estate); have won many sales awards (automobile sales). I have also managed a auto body & paint shop and transmission repair shop.
Sony Acid Music Studio on home PC.
Extraordinarily easy to get along with, I am always calm and cheerful. No matter the circumstances I stay relaxed and in control.
My career in real estate was abruptly ended with a car accident and the back injuries (& surgeries) that followed. Although I can no longer do manual labor or drive a car for extended periods, I am quite capable of getting around and I never let my back problems get in the way of a good attitude.
I am eager and ready for work in my region. Rest assured, if you like my audition, you'll love the work product. I am competent, clearheaded and perseverant - the kind of guy who sees every project through to its successful finish.
