Voice Description

I have been voice talent for radio, TV and industrial, audio books and phone promps for over 20 years. I specialize in audio books in all genres, fantasy, fiction, non fiction, spiritual, romance, mystery, etc. As an audio book narrator I specialize in voice acting. My voice is a lower sultry range and as a result I play male voices very effectively. My range is quite broad and therefore I can play young voices as well as seniors.

My Voice Experience

I have performed over 200 audio book titles as a voice actor. A particular series that I narrate written by Laurell K. Hamilton is particularly challenging because Ms. Hamilton has created a fantasy with goblins, fey, demi fey and so on. Some of the characters are the size of butterflys, and therefore require tiny voices, while others are gigantic in size and also evil requireing menancing voices. Also many of the characters in the series are very large men. There is also an evil queen, Andais, who is feared by all. I also read a lot of romance and handle the intimate scenes with fluidity and hightened excitement. Wuthering Heights, Moll Flanders, A Portrait of a Lady, Little Women, The Penelipiad are a few of the classic titles I have narrated. I have received multiple AudioFile Magazine Earphones Awards for my performances.

My Training

As a theater major in the early l970's I studied character development and voice with excellent coaches. Having recorded for over 30 years in TV, radio, industrial, audio books, and phone promps I learned much of my voice talent abilities on the job, and have worked with some of the finest voice over talents in the industry including Dick Hill, Joyce Bean, Sandra Burr, to name a few. I have recorded for Simon & Schuster, Brilliance Audio, Tantor Audio, Zondervan, Alpha DVD, and others.

Additional Skills

I have my own recording studio in my home and I use Pro Tools. I also record for several other audio book publishers in the house and also in studios away from home. Having begun my career in the theater, I often take an acting gig as well. Being on stage is an excellent training ground for voice work. Projection, endurance, breath control, phrasing, etc., all come into play when recording especially long sessions as in audio books.
