Voice Description
A writer for the Chicago Tribune once described my voice after hearing me on a radio station as,"Honeyed." Others have described it as warm, friendly, inviting. It is of a rich, soothing timbre that can be sultry, lilting, light or business-like. This is my standard manner.
During my years of radio broadcasting, the audience viewed me as a friend; a hip, fun person, whom theyd like to hang out with. Unlike many other women in radio, I have always had a strong female audience as they did not feel threatened by me. I have always maintained very high numbers with a male audience as well.
Two of the most unusual compliments I have received are as follows: A grade school teacher in Richmond, VA told me she made her class listen to me several times a week because of my elocution and use of voice. That was a first for me.
Another compliment which was very moving; a registered nurse called me while I was on the air one evening and told me she played my radio show every evening to a patient who was in severe pain and in a drugged state. When he eventually recovered he called and thanked me for "the kind voice," that kept him company and made him feel as though he had a friend. Things like that speak volumes!
I am a New Yorker and can easily slip into the dialect/accent of New York City and Long Island; otherwise I am accent-free.
I was once fluent in French. I can no longer converse or translate easily, but I am able to speak the written language with an accent that has been deemed very accurate. For such a project, I would prefer a voice-mail greeting or short (as in 60 second) ad.
Adults and children alike, often ask me to read to them. Its funny; even children tell me they love my voice. Needless to say, I take it as a compliment!
My forte would be voice-overs for department stores, boutiques, high-end luxury products; narrations of any kind, industrial film voice-over, podcasting, greetings voice mail prompts; and more.
I do not do exaggerated cartoon characters, though I'm very capable of doing characters such as "The Little Mermaid," and a character voice similar to Halle Berry's in "Robots."

I have managed rock bands in Boston and Richmond, VA and was a liason between the bands and high profile A&R executives at major record labels.
I am taking flying lessons when time permits in an effort to obtain my private pilots license. As a result, Ive been called upon to do some commercials for the local general aviation companies.
